Foxtons Sutton treated me disgracefully and may treat you the same way, avoid them. I believe they discriminated against me because after chasing me to market my house with them and making multiple promises and even wanting to bring viewers before I had instructed them, they refused my instruction application without giving me any reason, leaving me high and dry. I was left stranded throughout the May Bank Holiday weekend as it meant my house was not on the market. Foxtons made the decision after I submitted all my personal details/ID/passport, etc. to them, hence why I feel they discriminated against me. They could do the same to you. Details: After Foxtons Sutton valued my property on 13th May 2017, and in spite of negative feedback I found online and from asking around, I decided to go with Foxtons because of their much higher valuation of my property and the proof that the Sutton Sales Manager, William Campbell, provided. It was he who did the valuation and chased me for my instruction for three weeks. He said he had sold many properties in my area at a higher-than-asking price after taking over the properties from other agents who had advised the sellers to reduce their asking price. I received regular calls and emails from Mr Campbell in the two weeks after the valuation. Plus, Foxtons had already asked me to remove my property from Rightmove, which I had done two weeks before. On 22 May, Mr Campbell emailed me that seeing that you have now taken the details down off line, let me know when we can get started in marketing your property for you this week. On 23 May, Mr Campbell emailed me that his colleague had 2 applicants that would be ideal to visit your property tonight? I received these emails before I had actually instructed Foxtons. I spent three evenings filling in the application forms including a Seller's Questionnaire, which requested detailed information that no other agent I have used before has ever required. It was a lot of work. On Tuesday evening I delivered the application forms by hand to the branch in Sutton High Street. On Wednesday morning I received a phone call from Mr Campbell informing that they could not scan my (British) driving licence, and requesting another ID, along with a document about proceeds of the house sale. I never got a chance to send these because later that same day, I received a call from James Stevenson, Area Sales Manager, informing me that Foxtons' compliance dept had decided that the company could not market my property. No reason was given at the time and until now, despite pleas. Foxtons made me feel like a fraudster, although I very much own the property. We are both British citizens, although I was born abroad. I wish now that I had listened to all the negative feedback about them. An office colleague had said that Foxtons has had a For Sale sign in a property in her road in Norwood for one year....another estate agent tried to warn me about Foxtons' small print agreements....I ignored these and other cautionary warnings because William Campbell came across as trustworthy. He proved to be anything but. I hope William Campbell and Foxtons think twice next time before courting prospective sellers and then dropping them. It's an execrable way to treat people in the quest for mass profit.

2 Jul 2018You went with them because of their high valuation, you got greedy and saw pound signs over quality and customer service. More fool you for going against feedback you have read and advice from trustworthy sources. What did you really expect?

Shocking, try to get you to use their brokers (Alexander Hall - who are owned by the company that own them). They tell you they are the best in London yet aren't able to get you a mortgage that other brokers can. They tell you they understand your frustration, they don't. They just want ... Read Full Review

After a week of very little communication from Foxtons Sutton, in the days leading to my move, I finally received the keys to my new family home. The estate agent had said she'd inspected the property the previous night and we were all good to go. I got there with my young son, very excited.... Read Full Review

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
No procedure set.
