Romans in Windsor completely omitted to tell us about all the costs until after we paid our reservation fee. The manager Sam Morton actually told us that we had to take their contents insurance because we have a dog. This is a complete lie and is another extortionate cost on which they gain commission! This was on top of other cleaning costs we had to suddenly take on. They also try to flog you utilities and broadband that they gain commission on. Their fees are probably the highest in Windsor and it is nearly a thousand pounds in costs up front. They use pressure tactics and told us that someone else wanted the house and had another person arrive whilst we were viewing. We stupidly believed this and panicked offering a higher rent to secure it, again we were misled as the property is still listed. Reading other reviews it is obvious that this is the culture at Romans. It is mis-selling and like the PPI scandal it will hopefully catch up with them one day! When we complained they had misled us they tried to pay hard ball by offering a refund if we were not happy. We accepted straight away as I didn't want to deal with a company who have managers that will deliberately lie to customers. Of course it has taken weeks to get our �500 reservation fee returned and they only did so when we threatened to go to trading standards! it is only because I work in sales that I recognised their tactics, other people will unfortunately think they have no choice but to take their insurance etc. We will be reporting them to Trading Standards and ARLA as we have all of it on email and it might stop them doing it to someone else!!

Fees are some of the highest in Windsor, double some of the higher end agents. £500 admin fee for the first tenant then £199 for the second is a complete rip off!

21 Jan 2022I had the worst experience Ive ever had with Romans. Kim Stockley is an absolute joke, rude, totally unprofessional, irreponsible and totally extortionate. I understand what you've said about Sam aswell, she tried to trip me up when i told her there were cracked switches before I moved in (i got electrocuted by a faulty heater there) and she denied it and tried to get me to prove I had pictures of it in a really underhanded way. I was actually shocked. I've just been hit by a large end of tenancy bill when I literally left the flat in mint condition, got everything cleaned they asked for on their inventory list etc. I'm still in shock and traumatized by the experience and wish I had read your post earlier.

Romans Windsor is SO BAD. If I could give zero stars I would. Blinds in kitchen didnt work for weeks, I was told by the property manager that basically- she didnt believe me leading to the street being able to see in every night and me rarely using the kitchen. What agent could do to change your mind?
