I Lived in this property for 3 years and 10 months. Which cost me in total £16,800 which is fair enough because you pay for where you live. However the first month i was there one of the hobs on my electric cookers literally disintegrated when i was cooking some beans I rung up this company the day it happened and explained it was accidental damage and by law they should fix it and i didn't mind paying if necessary the bloke who does the maintenance came round and said he'd fix it and would be back in a week with the parts, after which a week later and still nothing i rung up again and they said they'd remind him to come and do it which he never so i spent 3 years 9 months with a broken cooker after i had already put down £520 for the deposit and £2,800 for 6 months in advance which is a hell of a lot of money for a 19 year old to have this left me somewhat displeased so i never bothered with it again . A few months ago my flipping cupboard fell of the wall possibly because it was stupidly put up by 2 nails at the top and the bottom and it finally given way which also wasn't my fault. I have left this property now and just before moving i had unfortunately lost my job which left me with no money to pay rent bills etc the very moment this had happened i rung the company and had explained what had happened and that i was not able to pay that month's rent and that i was leaving and wanted my months notice this was on 08/04/2015 which led me to believe i could move out the property on the 08/05/2015 because that is a month however i had to move out on the 30/04/2015 and i was only told this on the 21/04/2015 which left us 9 days to move mine and my partners stuff out and we could only do this thankfully because of her 75 year old granddad's help which is unfair. however we did and we cleaned the flat top to bottom . The guy who did the exit inspection said that would get some of my deposit back obviously i had to pay the owed rent which i didn't mind and that they would contact me on the 01/05/2015 which they didn't i rung up twice this week to find out if i would get any of the £150 of the deposit i had left finally today they answer my call to tell me i would not be getting any and their reason was because the flat was messy and because the cooker and cupboard needed replacing , i find it quite frankly a load of bollocks because the flat was clean and the damage to property was left because they never bothered fixing it when asked to do so. Also they changed their landlord half way through the tenancy and never bothered to give me an updated rental agreement to say what they do and don't expect if i have no information how the fuck am i meant to know, as far as I'm concerned i thought i was allowed to smoke in the property seeing as everyone else in the other properties owned by the same Asian landlord do so they can't take my deposit off me for that reason either , my partner also rung them up and this Sonia bitch said that he wasn't getting his deposit back as the flat was left with mess everywhere, mould growing and damage to the property. The cupboard had fell off the wall because it wasn't secure enough and we had explained this to them and they had said it was fine because they'd fix it. Sonia was very rude to my partner on the phone being unprofessional and telling us that the place was unacceptable when we had left. Mark had came round to collect the keys later that day after explaining we needed all of our belongings out of the property, the flat was spotless clean. We had spent all night and day cleaning it from top to bottom and this was still not good enough for them. My partner had explained that I am entitled for this money and I should of been given £150. According to them, they have to pay cleaners £10 an hour to clean that flat even though it was clean and tidy. The only belonging I had left in that property that belonged to me was a table and chairs and that still wasn't good enough for them. I have read all the reviews about 1st Lettings and every tenant has complained about them and their service, landlords leave good reviews, seems a bit fishy to me. This is all I can say now, if any of you are going to rent a flat or house, DO NOT go to 1st Lettings Thank you BYE :)
Actually do their jobs properly Arrange for a meeting when changing Landlord and any information like tenancy agreements Be professional when answering the phone Don't allow money grabbing thieves to be landlords
I Honestly felt that £370 pcm for basically a box was far too much !!!!!!! Don't judge the amount of rent by where the property is but what the property is

We had a great experience using 1st lettings and sale. After a few disappointing experiences with agents we were pleasantly surprised by the level of service. They are easy to communicate with, straightforward and honest, and did a brilliant job of securing the home we wanted and selling our ... Read Full Review

I am an experienced landlord with 10 properties in Coventry. I can safely tell you to NEVER use 1st Lettings as your agent to let a property. Their service is an appalling disgrace. Every phone call or email I made to this agent was never answered or responded to until I sent an email to cancel the ... Read Full Review

firstly, we were horrified by the extra charges they add for administration which is not initially made aware- ours were in the excess of £800; which for students is horrendous and we had not encountered in previous years. Throughout the year the letting agency were not contactable in emergency- ... Read Full Review

My wife first went to view this property in question, she said she liked the location and the space but the property used to be a student let, which left its mark on the property. It was a 3 bedroom house. She booked another viewing to enable me see the property. The agent who was showing us around ... Read Full Review
