One of the worst experiences of my life. The staff are unpleasant, verging on cruel, and consistently rude, arrogant and I guess rather unsurprisingly, not particularly bright. Sadly we are still in a property managed by Simply Let so I am not keen to divulge further details. I attend a community group in Guildford and have heard several stories of fairly appalling treatment of students, too. They are viewed as money making machines yet, despite their lucrative contracts, are very much treated as lower class clients. I've been shown several communications between Simply Let and their student renters and they're openly dismissive, unpleasant and unhelpful; routinely asking whether they just want to 'cancel the contract?' when they've been asked a question that puts them out even slightly. At meetings in their office I've heard that one student was openly mocked when querying what to me was a fairly run of the mill question about furniture. I am reluctant to go into specifics as some are still clients and don't want to worsen their treatment but I compel those interested to look elsewhere. What's most upsetting is that it is the mamager, Ben, who is routinely mentioned in complaints. Laughing at clients and mocking their problems because, let's face it, students need somewhere to live and they have them over a barrel. It's cruel to treat young, naive and impressionable people in the manner that they do. Please avoid Simply Let if possible, they seem to have very few staff - I fear you are almost guaranteed contact with Ben. I encourage students to feed back to the University of Surrey and hopefully some momentum will build behind acknowledging this problem at the level of the Accomodation Services there. To older renters, I wish I had been warned beforehand how unpleasant, unhelpful and uncaring Simply Let would be. Please don't fall into the same quagmire we're in.
