I used Putterills a couple of years ago to sell my property. The main problem I had during the sales process was the valuation of the property and I really had to fight to get them to put it on the market at the price I wanted. Once they agreed, they then went ahead and published the newspaper ad at the lower price. To their credit they then backtracked with the potential buyers well enough to ensure we got the price that we had fought for. The other, issue which depending on your position was a complete disaster was when we tried to buy a property through them (while selling the above mentioned property) which was being sold as part of a development. Previous to Putterills coming into the equation we had been in negotiation with the development owners direct and were about to make a final offer when Putterills took over the sales contract and all negotiations had to go through them, this rendered all previous negotiations with the development owner as null and void in Putterills eyes. So we started again and couldn't agree a price through Putterills and we regrettably moved on and found something else. We had friends that had bought houses on that same development only weeks before we tried too direct through the developers so we knew the price they had paid direct. What really burns, was that I've recently found that the house we were trying to buy through them was sold for £25k less than what we were offering to Putterills. Worth noting, we knew that Putterills were taking over the sale of the remaining development properties a few days before it happened but were advised by Putterills (who were acting as our vendor side agents) to wait and negotiate through them. I'll let you be the judge on whether you would like to use this agency but I find it hard to swallow that a group of people specialising in selling property could be so inept at doing so and manipulative in the process but I guess that's estate agents for you. To add to this, they then tried to tuck us up for a £50 admin fee, on top of a the £5k fee we paid for the sale of the house.
