We bought a property using WA, we were happy to match the offer of another interested party who offered to pay the commission for the seller, WA rep said they will suggested us to the seller as we have the bank approval in place and able to match the best offer. We assumed the seller was aware of the agreement that we will pay WA for them and only through random conversation we discovered the seller was not aware of this agreement and WA are charging us and seller commission. We have received the invoice from WA and have received phone calls prior and after completion to pay the fees even both seller's and buyer's solicitors have confirmed the seller has paid WA the agreed fees on the completion date. We have visited the house twice prior the exchange of contract and WA staff were with us both times and it was really lucky we discovered this double charging practice through random conversation. We have filed a formal complaint to the ombudsman too.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
