Their office should be on The Shambles, cos that's what their service is. I was continuously shocked at their disorganisation, and the way I was treated dismissively from the start. E-mails were ignored, call-backs were promised but never materialised, even their whole system went down at one point! Amateur hour! I was left tearing my hair out, waiting for days to hear whether my bids were successful or not, as they "didn't have the vendor's contact details cos he lives in Spain". Umm... they have phones and e-mail in Spain you know! I was frequently aghast and I lost out on the property due to their incompetence - they agreed a deal with another party whilst I was still waiting for an answer to my offer! They'd gone straight to the other party following my front-running bid and let him up his offer and then agreed the deal with the vendor, all behind my back and without letting me submit a counter offer or a final offer! I was prepared to go higher! How is that a fair negotiation?! I was furious! Yet not surprised. They treated me like some kind of risky rogue bidder, which is not remotely true. I have health problems but they weren't interested in assisting me in any way shape or form. I felt invisible, constantly chasing them up. Even my broker sensed my frustration with Hunters. I had to turn to staff at Coalters to help me - who are brilliant by the way - even though they were not even involved! But it was to no avail. Thankfully Coalters have now helped me find a better property, so it turned out ok for me in the end, and it was definitely a relief not to have to deal with Hunters again. I've dealt with many agents across the region and Hunters York are definitely bottom of the pile, by some distance.

Hunters are least recommended for any tenants trying to rent a property through them, They fees are very high and they are one of the most lazy bunch of estate agents. What you will find as a Tennant with Hunters is that you will hand back your keys after an inspection has been carried out on moving date and everything is found to be okay with the property your renting when your moving out but although you pay a months rent and bond upfront for your new property... Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
