We’re joint buyers. We asked to view a vacant property at 69 Liverpool Road. Their agent (Pauline Kay) wasn’t able to wait the next day till 12pm for a joint viewing and insisted on a 9am (solo) viewing. She made it clear there was already an offer on the property and proceeded to ask me whilst viewing the garden, “if you were to put an offer in, when would you be able to do so?”. Crass.
I was left with no choice but to submit an offer in excess of the asking price purely to allow my partner to view the property. The agent then contacted me the same day to ask that my partner urgently view the property (on the request of the vendors) before the offer would be considered.
I got the impression that (on day 1 of the property appearing on RIghtmove) we were only used as competition for an existing offer. Pauline’s demands about viewing at 9am meant that the vendors THEN asked for time for my partner to be allowed time to view the property before the offer was considered.
A vacant property and we were both available from 12 on day one, so we took the viewing restrictions (before office hours) were to suit the agent and not necessarily ourselves, that they already had and offer and that’s we were merely pawns.
