Phil has been absolutely brilliant since we first met nearly a year ago! This has been an unnecessarily troublesome sale but through no fault of Phil May or Thomas Merrifield. But tomorrow is completion day and we are all smiles! Phil and the people I have spoken to in the Abingdon office are very professional but with a great sense of humour which is exactly what clients need. Viewings have been conducted efficiently and effectively. Phil has been especially kind and supportive to me through the highs and lows. He has brought this sale in at higher than asking price and never wavered in his determination to get the job done. Very happy with the service received. During a difficult period of both covid and pressure resulting from the stamp duty holiday we were kept informed of what was happening with a particularly difficult chain. As pressure mounted to exchange before our buyers mortgage offer expired we had daily updates. The solicitor acting for the lady we were buying from told her that they were the best agents they had ever dealt with. Happy to recommend Thomas Merrifield in Abingdon.

They were absolutely horrible at replying to any emails regarding property maintenance. They were absolutely horrible at replying to any emails regarding property maintenance. We had a problem with one of the toilets for more than a month, over which they had left a key to our house with the handyman without even telling us. They have also asked me to wave my rights to my deposit, because they don't want to write up a new tenancy for my old housemate and the person replacing me, so the deposit is not released. Nobody is reviewing the property to settle the dispute and I will just lose my money which is almost 2 months rent.

Money grabbing and inconsiderate. Having rented of them for the past 3 years now luckily buying and moving on from the oh so terrible renting market...having to give 2 months notice and still paying full rent I am not even allowed to ask about inconvenient viewing times. What agent could do to change your mind?
Try and change to another more convenient time and don't just refuse because it's too much to ask for.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Easy - be flexible in viewing times and realise buyers have busy lives and there lots of properties out there to buy for investment buyers with cash!!

Well, what can I say. I am an investment buyer looking to increase my portfolio. I e-mailed requesting a viewing. They couldn't do after dark because the property does not have power. They said can you come during daylight hours. Fine, I telephoned them and proposed 8 am (before I have to be in the office). They said they don't open until 8.45. I said when would you propose then as I work 40 minutes drive away and cannot get back in the lunch hour and spend my weekends with my partner elsewhere. They were obstructive and suggested to me my partner had telephoned the day before also requesting a viewing at 8 a.m. No - he didn't so that makes two prospective buyers they have refused to view the property. Do they want to sell this property? Does the vendor know of their attitude? Would the vendor like to place his property with an agent who gives a damn? I'll give this agent a miss when I market my own property in the spring.
