I am a landlord with other properties that I manage and have had the mis-fortune to have to deal with Martin & Co. They are the managing agent of the upper floor property from the property that I own. I have found Martin and Co to be totally incompetent and non responsive to customer issues.There is a lack of leadership and coordination. There is a lack of urgency when issues are raised. I have called them on several occasions regarding a leak but have received no reply or an update on the situation. If there was the ability to score them a BIG FAT ZERO, then that is what they would have received. I would not recommend Martin and Co to any landlord.

I would not recommend Martin and Co to anyone. The staff are hopeless and no help at all. Every complaint we made, or ask for something very important to be fixed was not completed. I have never felt so uncomfortable knowing I had no support or effective communication between landlord, staff and tenants.

Horrible experience with Gloucester office, giving very bad name to the agency, they lied to us at the beginning of our tenancy and said ours going to be periodic when the contract finishes, now they are saying they don't do that and they wouldn't have said so. The send emails and emails for extra fees here and there.
No service what so ever, even after the inspection, just a tick in a box report is sent after we requested it. Cracks, mold are there, no effort from them to do anything. The carpet is a mess, they just say they contact the landlord and wait to hear back from him and never reply to us afterwards. More importantly, they never ever let us get the landlord's address even through it is our right by the low! avoid with all costs, we will be talking to a legal advisor!
When I originally wrote the comment I got a call from the agent ** upset about it even though I wrote the review anonymous. I have the right to share my experience with regards to this agency and her name, this is an example of unprofessional behavior they conduct. For the record, she and her colleague*** were responsible for the work to get us to sign the contract, then our property file moved to another agent *** . ** is basically who misled us before signing the contract. Other issues in this review are more related to the overall working behavior of the office mainly *** our property manager and Adam who viewed the property to us and shared the inventory with us.

as a 22 year old woman renting from martin & co has been the worst thing I've done. I've had nothing but problems from the day we moved in! i rented a flat from them everything seemed to be fine until we moved in half of the light bulbs didn't work and the dish washer was completely burnt out.. i had the dishwasher looked at and informed the agency and the landlord directly up on her visit and was told if i wanted it to work i had to pay to fix it! the landlord also told me she payed for all the light bulbs to be working (which they weren't) and up on moving out have charged me for this!! i was charged £95 for light bulbs that never worked and the dishwasher to be cleaned which i never even used! and they knew this from day 1! after a month or so plaster started coming through the wall in the en suite and the shower started leaking resulting in water coming up through the carpet in my bedroom, not to mention the pipe on the back of the over flow on the bath was unattached resulting in flooding the bathroom which then lead on to mold growing on my bedroom walls! when the contractor they sent came to do the work they left the en suit in a state and had taken all the paint off the wall and skirting board around it, not only this but after a long day at work i come home to find a whole new shower system had been fitted without my knowledge.. when i phoned them the next day to say that people were going in and out of my flat without giving me any notice all i got was oh you're meant to be told before hand, ill tell my manager!.. no apology. before leaving i had the floors steam cleaned and the place spotless, not a mark to complain about (except a small mark on the carpet that came out during cleaning) i wasn't notified that the landlord wanted the fridge/freezer defrosted and they are now charging me £42 to do so! up on speaking to a member of staff about this over email the person was very patronizing and rude. needless to say they will nit pick to claim every penny of your deposit. disgraceful.

I found Martin & Co to charge horrendous renewal fees without informing tenants about such fees. The staff were very rude and lacked customer service skills. When I left the property I was renting through them, they tried every trick in the book to keep my deposit, from cobwebs in impossible to reach places, complaining about problems that were already present on moving into the property, dusty light cords, to complaining a leylandi tree was not exactly the same size as it was 2.5 years prior to moving in! Basically ridiculous reasons to withhold a tenants deposit or take more money from a tenant. I certainly wouldn't recommend them and would advise anyone considering renting a property through them to think again!

The most unhelpful, money grabbing bunch of people I have ever met. Their fees are through the roof which I wouldn't mind if they actually did some work. They are honestly clueless, my tenancy agreement didnt even have the address in question on it, there are several spelling errors which actually make sentences into something nonsensical, in my eyes something which should have been done a lot better considering the cash paid for it.
That aside, the property is lovely, but that has nothing to do with them.
As I do not deal with the landlord directly, i have to go through Martin & Co and they are useless. 3 months is the average wait time for them to do anything about a problem we may have. And even 3 months is lucky. They do not care about their tenants at all and do not listen to them. In their eyes if it is losing or not making them money then they are not interested.
Be warned, they will make your life miserable and will make you regret your choice of letting agent for every single day you live there.
Make your life easier and just avoid them!
Also, to rub salt into an already painful wound, the majority (there are one or two who mean good) of the staff there are utterly rude, embarrassingly so. They should never have been awarded a job that requires customer contact. The way I have been spoken to and treated over the last 10 months has been, at times, disgusting.
I just hope the time and effort I have put into writing this will save some of you from going through the same stuff that I have had to.

They took alot of money off me and kept hold of it until 2 or 3 months later when I decided to look for another rental. So stressfull. No apology from them. Would never use them again!! Leave the sitting tenant in the property, have a responsible person check out on vacating the property. Be polite and Peter could have questioned Suzanne and not backed her entirel her work was attrocious and he didn\'t care, all he wanted was our fee. Martins and Co. are a franchise, they openly do not care how their branches handle customers, both landlords and tenants.

Whilst he was managing the let property Peter recommended telling the tenant to vacate the property as he could get a higher rent. On checkout Suzanne supposedly did the inventry but there wasn't one done. She eventually produced a paper with no comments referrence to the broken fridge drawers (5 out of 7 broken) and pierced fridge interior, she said the oven was clean, it wasn't until we produced photos of the filthy state of the oven and hob that it was agreed it needed cleaning. The garage door was dented - not logged. There was no mention of the lawn-mower which was at the property. When asked straight after vacation of the property where the oven shelves and trays were Suzanne said "Where there any when the house was let?" This was a brand new 5 bed-room 4 bathroom executive home. After two months the property was not re-let and, since no proper checkout had been done, there was an ongoing interchange about the amount of return of the depoist. I can supply copies of emails to verify our dealings.
