The worst estate agent I have dealt with in 20 years. First, I was pushed out of the flat after three years of renting because they refused to add a six-month break clause while renewing the contract, as we had done in previous occasions, and instead they asked for a 12-month break clause. Obviously, they then put the property in the market for £175 more a month, an increase that they could have not put forward with me as a tenant. Second, they kept £310 from my deposit for cleaning a one-bedroom flat that was already cleaned. They were intransigent, rude, aggressive, and acted like thugs. The goverment should really keep an eye on how estate agents such a Martin & Co in its Bournemouth branch operate.

I have recently moved into a Bournemouth Martin&Co property and I am absolutely thrilled. I have had such a bad experience with other agents previously and was starting to lose hope, but then I found these guys!
Firstly, i'd like to mention Daniel who showed me the first viewings and dealt with the referencing ect... I must have sent hundreds of different questions and he never got fed up and answered everything in detail. I was re-assured throughout the referencing and kept informed - which made me feel at ease.
Secondly, after the referencing was completed I was ready to collect keys and get the ball rolling - this is when I met Monica. She has been my main port of call and has been dealing with me pestering her constantly via email (Sorry). She dealt with the deposit/rent ect and this all went through really quickly and easily. She has been so friendly and I feel like I can approach her about anything! Everytime I email, it has always been responded to within 24 hours - the communication is amazing!
Last, but no means least - David (Property Manager). He unexpectedly called me on the date I moved in and introduced himself and that he would be managing the property - which I thought was very kind and professional. I'd usually not been introduced to people, until there was a problem! After being in the flat for a while I started to notice minor problems, therefore I contacted David and reported them (bombarding him with messages/emails - Sorry). My problem was reported early morning and the contractor had been out and resolved/fixed the issue by the end of the day!! I am so happy and confident in the service going forward.
I would highly recommend Martin&Co to anyone and this has been the best dealing I have had with any lettings agents. This experience has completely changed my view on renting from an agent and I am totally relaxed/excited to have a long tenancy ahead with Martin&Co.

I have been a landlord for many years, and have experienced a very diverse range of property managing agents and services. One of my managing agents decided to no longer provide lettings services, so handed my properties over to Martin and Co. I was uncertain how the handover (and my properties) would be managed, but it was the best thing that could have happened. Hanna and the team at Bournemouth are incredibly professional, easy to communicate with and very much on the ball with any issues that arise, and there have been quite a few... From organising basic maintenance to managing a complex property arrears situation and negotiating exit terms with a very demanding tenant, it has all been managed with professional courtesy with the aim of minimum hassle for me. The whole lettings team, from sales to management, work as one under the eagle eye of Hanna Gwilliam, the Branch Manager who is simply the best! Martin & co Bournemouth are the best managing agency I have yet to employ, so good that I have moved all my Bournemouth based properties to them. I would highly recommend Hanna and the team to any property landlord, be they new or experienced, as they will be sure to receive excellent service at a reasonable rate.

What agent could do to change your mind?
As the survey was supposed to be done on the next day she was supposed to know as they promise if that work it was to get done or not, what she said is that the survey is not her business and I understand that but I wouldn\'t have pay that money without that work being done and I would have lost the survey money.
Me and my wife we were looking to buy a property and unfortunately we found a property listed by them on right move, we where really excited as we put an offer and the offer was accepted, we went the second time to see the property and was a different agent Debbie Holmes and when asked her about some work that the first agent told as its gone a be done she said she doesn't know(we was supposed to have the survey the day after) also late half an our and said she was in a rush and she had to go when I asked her when I can see the property again she said that we can't see it only after we exchange contracts.
She was really disrespectful, she was expecting us to see the property once and buy it like you buy a shirt for 10£. She looked really surprised when asked her to see the property another time which made me think that something was wrong with the property or she is a really poor agent.

AWFUL - every time you speak to them you have to explain your situation again from scratch. Maintenance issues left unresolved for months so we had to give up and move out. We've had to chase for weeks to get money they owe us, still waiting, call them every day. Actually got shouted at on the phone today for asking for an explanation why we are still waiting for the money they owe us. No apology, just get told they'll look and call you back (which they never do). Worst customer service I have ever experienced in any industry. DO NOT use this agent!!

Absolutely incompetent at their jobs, only one member of staff at this office was helpful (Hanna Gwilliam). After we viewed the property, we put the money down for the admin and referencing fees etc. and a member of staff there for a good few weeks after, was still emailing me properties "I may be interested in" - clearly I was interested in the property we had just spent hundreds of pounds on. The same member of staff also telephoned me within the same day as I had phoned her thinking I was somebody else and tried to offer me different properties that they may have be interested in (again) before I told her I was someone else. Then, on the day of moving in, stapled to the back of our tenancy agreement was two emails (I assume should have been treated as confidential) from another client regarding a different property, to which we told the member of staff and she said "oh that wasn't me". Then after we moved in, problem after problem. Firstly, the intercom didn't work so we just had to 'buzz' anyone we let in, being "dangerous" as the agents put it. Six or seven times this was reported to them over the duration of six months (half of our tenancy agreement!!!), always being told it was marked as urgent and someone would call us immediately. Obviously never received the call. Months passed and I contacted the agents again to ask what was happening to which the blame was shifted to the block management who were apparently ignoring the agents phone calls and emails (highly unbelievable), so I contacted them myself and shockingly within 24 hours had emailed and called me, and within another 24 hours had sent someone out to fix it. We also had a problem with our boiler which was reported at least 4 times until something was finally done. One of the beds in the property was also broken and we had asked at least six times if we could dismantle it and replace with our own bed. This took months to resolve, the blame being put on the landlord's lack of communication. We are now in the process of a tenant swap, to which the incompetent 'Property Manager' Ben Hume is incapable of doing correctly as he has decided to add on an extra 3 months to the agreement and charge £65 for the work (changing a tenant's name). He is extremely sarcastic and seems to be very fond of himself, no idea why. He doesn't even understand how the law works yet enjoys quoting irrelevant, incorrect and outdated information. Avoid at all costs, totally unprofessional.

I was very happy to find an unfurnished property with a reasonable rent. At the beginning it was only meant to be for me , but later I've decided to get a flatmate . I worked that time long hours , so it was impossible for me to pick up and sign the documents within the normal agency working hours and a day off was not an option. Finally the agent visited me at my work place - not pleased about it. Paid and signed the documents also asked if I could get a flatmate -could he talk to the landlord. I said that he will pay for the referencing and all. Almost a month later I got a response. The rent was raised by 50 pounds and there was the referencing fee to be paid. All fine with us. Paid it all. I remember asking about the bills and the council - I've been told that I have to do it all, they are not responsible. Till that moment I was quite happy with the agency. In February we received a letter regarding our tenancy agreement - continuation. We looked at the other properties and their prices, standards and decided to move out, because for the money we were paying we could get a flat with much higher standards. We went to the agency and gave them the notice.
In march we found a perfect property with a different agency. We needed to get referenced. There was the first shock, because we paid the referencing fee for my flatmate, though the landlord had no knowledge of him ...it's like the agency never referenced him and never told the landlord about the person that lived in his property for 6 months. Next thing is the flat viewings ... Yes , the agency phoned me and asked me about it, I said yes. We agreed on the viewing time 10.00 am. The viewing day - 9.00 am , knock on the door -they didn't bother to use the intercom... and then they just opened the door... we weren't ready... they came an hour too early. Apparently they scheduled two viewings on that day without informing us about it.
A month before we moved out I called the agency and told them that we are moving out on 29th and I also called the landlord, as I've been told by the letting agency that it is him I should inform , not them. A week before moving out I informed the council tax office, water and gas&electricity companies and my internet provider. To top that up I also phoned the agency to confirm my moving out day. The agency called me 2 days later to arrange a viewing...we were in the middle of packing and getting ready to move, so I asked if it could wait till the 29th. The agent was very rude and said no, because the landlord will lose money... ( rent was paid till 6th of the next month, because the landlord did not agree to refund us the money back) ... We moved out. I gave back the keys to a different agency, because the landlord had asked me to. Later on the 29th - the agency called me to arrange a viewing- I said that I moved out. On the 2nd of the next month I've received a bill for the council tax ,as the agency did not bother to call and confirm my moving out. I ended up with paying the bill , because after a half an hour on the phone with the agency and the council office I gave up...Why ? Council would not amend the payment without the agency telling them to...the agency said that the landlord has to pay and I should inform council about it... so I did... and I heard that the agency has to do that not me...
The other agency that we are with now -fantastic. They arranged everything. The contrast between them is soo big , but at least I know how it should look like.

If my offer was not acceptable then I would have known whether to increase it or not, but to rent it to someone else without telling me is very poor behaviour. In fact, I wouldn't have found out at all if I hadn't phoned them to find out what was happening!
