We were interested in mortgaging a property that this branch had for sale, however they had listed the property as sub standard construction. I rang up the agents to check if sub standard meant non standard and therefore mortgage options were off the table. I live quite far away so didn't want to waste travel time on something entirely unrealistic. I was advised it was non standard so therefore not all lenders would be available however they did say that some would lend on this property and encouraged me to book a viewing and also encouraged me to speak to their mortgage consultant about getting the best deal on the house. We took the day off work, travelled two hours to see the property and spent three hours with the mortgage consultant (who was brilliant and operates under countrywide not John Francis). Just as we were leaving the manager of the office came and said there's no way of getting a mortgage on this property because it's sub standard construction. Absolutely devastated, all they had to do was to tell us that when I rang up initially and I would not have wasted 7 hours of my day to view a property that I could have never gotten anyway! The manager was not apologetic, upon then trying to find out what the property was made of she couldn't tell me any information at all, and was met with a very hostile response. Overall very unfriendly, unapologetic, happy to waste your time, unprofessional, wouldn't recommend them to anyone
