The staff at Hodders exceeded our expectations, they were so knowledgable and efficient and their can-do attitude really stood out. We received an offer within a week following a three month listing with another local agent and couldn’t believe it! We were regularly kept updated and supported all the way through to completion and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their service, indeed we have already done so to a couple of people already. They were a pleasure to deal with.

Incompetent Shambles, I wouldn't let these people run a bath.

My daughter found a third share for her Uni accommodation. This agent took so long and made so many errors that the new tenant had to find alternative housing.

The agent sends Document after document after document, which is wrong 95% of the time. They don't read emails that are sent.

I am 55 years old, I have had many many dealings with Estate Agents over the years and this shower are just shocking. go elsewhere, it doesn't matter where just anywhere else

I had a long telephone conversation last Friday, outlining what I was looking for and the fact I was relocating from the North of England.
I got an email confirming a 3pm viewing time for the property in Chertsey. I drove for 5 hours to view this and other houses. I arrived early and phoned the Hodders office to say I was in the area.
I was told - with no hint of apology - that the property was not available to view, as “the owners are on holiday”. I had received no prior warning of the cancellation - either by email or by phone. I was then asked if I could return to view the property three days later.
Not only could I not return 3 days later, but I shall not even bother to look at any property on Hodders’ books. Why would I want to do business with an agency that is so totally unprofessional and cavalier about how it treats customers?
My advice is “Avoid at all costs”.

We cannot thank Matt and Claire enough for everything they have done for us during our house sale and purchase. We haven't had the easiest experience going through a house move during lockdown but both Matt and Claire where there for us every step of the way, from Matt securing us our dream home to Claire being our comfort blanket/rock whilst we juggled some hiccups along the way. I cannot thank them and Hodders enough. It's very rare that you find agents that don't treat you like your just commission to them and Hodders couldn't be further from this, both Claire and Matt both made us feel like they genuinely cared about us and helping us to secure our dream home which is what they have done. We made an offer on a house which was accepted. Then a week later we found the property is still on the market and Hodders called to let us know that someone else has put an offer in, which means we might need to increase our offer in order to secure the property. They explained that the offer was came from someone who viewed the house at the same time as us just delay to put their offer in. While we were waiting for the outcome we drove past the house one evening noticing some people are viewing the property. Being shock and annoy we called Hodders and they said it was the other family who also made the offer. Then after keeping us wondering what is happening for few days we were told the vendor has decided to sell the house to the other family. There's no need to try to negotiate or increase our offer, the seller simply just prefer the other family better. The agent on the phone suggested that the other property we have also viewed is still available and have not received any offer just yet. It's a good location for me so I made an offer on that one and waited for the outcome. The next morning I received phone call from the Hodders, strangely this second house that didn't receive any offer for a month received another offer just couple hours I made my offer and now Hodders wants us to put our highest offer in to secure this house. I mean, are they for real? The same trick play twice? We have better things to do with our time. Not to mention I can still see the first house we've lost on the market, totally time waster. I would give Hodders a 0 star if I can.

The worst agents I've ever used
I was selling my late father in laws house which they seriously undervalued. The guy who I see is now the sales manager was aggressive to me on phone which in hindsight was great because I got another £40.000 and paid £ 2000 less in fees
Only use these guys if you not bothered how much I get or how much commission you pay

I was booked in to view a property and when I arrived (having travelled over an hour to get there) they did not have the keys. I said i would wait around in the area for a while for them to get the keys or rectify their mistake. They said they would call me, they did not call me, so i called them, they said they couldnt get through to the seller but they would keep trying I said i would wait a while longer. I then called back 2 hours later and said i could no longer wait and asked that they booked me in the next day for 1pm which they stated would be fine they would just need to check with the seller to confirm and they would call me. No phone call so when i called them i was told by the Saturday worker that he did not know anything about this and that they were fully booked so could not do anything. Absolute joke, the seller has missed out on a potential buyer because of bad communication and lack of organisation by an estate agent!

Hodders are the most conspicuous agent in the Chertsey area. Their billboards are everywhere. I rented two properties over 30 months with them and I hardly know where to start.

Anyway, property number one: after complaining of the fact the landlord was still registered as living at the property -a debt collector's visit which required a long negotiation at the front door to persuade him we merely rented the property alerted me to that.I must say that the agent advised me to move as the landlord, 'was difficult'. We were then alerted to the fact that the landlord was claiming Jobseeker's Allowance at the address - discovered after being refused credit. This, we were told, was none of our business and we received notice to quit soon after. Hodders went on to sell the property so clearly the agent remained on friendly terms with the crook.

Of course we should have changed agents but Hodders have a virtual monopoly in the area. We (foolishly) rented another property with them. Although we have no beef with the owners (who were absent, living abroad) we still had the same problem with our deposit, against which ludicrous claims were made. Hodders use an inventory company (Longcross) who are totally in league with them and make claims that take your breath away.

At the second property the check in listed, 'Extensive scratching on the lounge floor (wood). When we left the check out stated exactly the same, and £100 was claimed due to our damage! More ridiculous than that, we were unable to find a professional carpet cleaner, as stipulated by contract, so I called Hodders to offer the cost of cleaning to be deducted from the deposit. Better than that, Hodders said, they could arrange a cleaner, which they did. Two Poles from a cleaning company came, washed the carpets, and we paid £100.

Hodders then insisted that we pay £150 as the carpets hadn't been professionally cleaned. Despite numerous emails pointing out that the carpets had been cleaned by a company sent by Hodders themselves they insisted for weeks that wasn't so.

I refused to accept the reduced offer of my deposit and eventually settled to lose £300 for supposedly not having the place professionally cleaned (it was thoroughly cleaned but I had no receipt to show a company had done it).

What sticks in the craw is that the place had awful damp / water infiltration and Hodders knew this, both from us and previous tenants but did absolutely nothing about it. Rain water rain down the walls and meters of plaster were blackened, The house always had a musty spell and large areas of blackened plaster. When we gave notice to quit they sent in painters and decorators as they wanted to cover up the affected areas with filler and paint to sell the property. Not only was that highly dishonest to any prospective buyer, the sanding of the filler coated the entire house with a film of dust.

Anyway, I have rambled on too much, but please believe me, this company is dishonest, entirely on the landlord's side since they want to either rent or sell, knowing the market is hot. The inventory company dances to Hodders' tune. Others may be the same but beware, they put money before any responsibility for their clients.

Hodders are an absolute joke, awful company! Communication is non existent, moved into a property that within 3 months has had to be completely re-wired electrically, due to dangerous c1 faults, a gas leak, water leak, we have damp in the bedrooms and kitchen, the roof fascia is rotten and falling off, the garden has loose paving stones and overgrown trees/ivy... Their response... We are being asked to leave the property in 2 months because suddenly the landlord needs the property back, one month before I am due to give birth to our third baby, with two toddlers under three, 6 months into a year contract without any refunds of our £700 agency fees for a house unfit for purpose!

In the initial days when we put an offer on a rental property we got a lot of attention. There were days when documents were demanded one at a time with phone calls several times a day during the work day. However, when it came to the actual details of wanting to clarify points in the contract or wanting to know about the process of actually moving in after the contract is signed, emails went unanswered and there seemed to be a complete lack of interest at their end. When we wanted clarifications about the process and the contract, however, we were even told that we could choose to not rent with Hodders after all. Of course by this time they had already taken the non-refundable administrative costs. I would definitely not recommend using Hodders unless you're in a bind and absolutely must. They did not make me feel like a valued customer.
