The agent did not apologise at all.

As a tenant at Connells Leicester for 2.5 years, I encountered repeated communication issues, particularly regarding a rent arrears incident. Despite having a consistent record of on-time payments, a negative reference was provided, creating unnecessary stress and confusion.
This, along with other instances of poor communication, left me feeling frustrated and unheard. I also found the customer service lacked empathy and understanding, which is crucial when dealing with tenants who are ultimately human beings. An example of this was their unwillingness to acknowledge and rectify an error in their referencing process.
While I appreciate certain aspects of my experience, these communication and customer service issues leave me hesitant to recommend Connells Leicester. Addressing these concerns would significantly improve the rental experience for future tenants.

Negative experience from start to finish. I called many times to constructively solve the issues without conflict. Worked with Toni who never called back or replied to emails and because of her lack of communication I was left homeless for a week due to an incorrect move in date being provided. A full furnished property was downgraded to partly furnished and the move in date was delayed (zero contact until after I was supposed to move in). I spoke multiple times to her colleagues and manager explaining the situation, everyone was extremely apologetic but no changes were made until 2/3 days until the reassessed move on where she became far more cooperative. I tried to be patient throughout and gave the whole company more than enough of an opportunity to change my view. Now I’ve moved in she replies to her emails with about a months delay apparently after being on holiday. I hope that this review can help the company develop their customers experiences in future.

What agent could do to change your mind?

I have never been so disappointed or upset with a customer service experience (and this is as someone whose career is in customer service).
We have now been living in the flat provided by Connells for almost 3 weeks. We have not received the code for the bin store. We have not been given the fob key for the garage. We cannot perform two of the most basic things one needs in a living space (parking a car and using the bins). We cannot access the building from the ground floor because it requires the same key as the car park, which is irritating, but what if one of us was, or became, disabled or of limited mobility? I'm scheduled for surgery on my foot next month, and if I don't get a key by then, it will be a real struggle just to get to and from the front door and our flat until I recover. A flight of stairs just to get to the lift is ridiculous. We received the flat utterly filthy and disgusting. There were cupboards hanging off hinges, black marks on the walls, there was pubic hair in the toilets from the previous tenants, and oh yes, the oven doesn't have any markings on the knobs, so we have literally no idea what setting we're putting it on, what temperature it's at, etc (and we are therefore forced to either guess, or not use it). I could go on for pages, but the point is that we recieved it in a state that quite frankly is unacceptable, especially considering that we not only paid a 120 fee, which we were told was to ensure that the flat was both clean and everything was in working order, but that we paid our full 6 months rent (plus deposit, fees, etc.) UP FRONT (which made up most of the money we had originally planned to save for a mortgage deposit, so for us this was a huge financial and personal sacrifice).
It has been nearly three weeks. No-one has bothered to come over and help us. We have been told, variously, that the situation with the oven is not going to be solved because

Avoid at all costs! We found a house we wanted to buy which was with Connells. So we decided to market our house with them too, thinking that they would be motivated to sell our house as they would then be able to sell 2 houses. How wrong we were. We were tied into a contract with them for 20 weeks and they coudn't sell our house. We asked for ideas of how we could try to sell our house and they couldn't give us any. They came and took photos with just a normal digital camera so the photos didn't do our house justice. The description they wrote started with ' a 3 bedroom house with bathroom' - how exciting and enticing for prospective buyers! We asked them to make it sound a bit more exciting and they asked us to do it instead! - that's there job surely! They only put about 5 photos on the websites. We gave them a key so they could show people around when we weren't there and they were always 'too busy' to do so. Most people we had round you could tell weren't that interested. They obviously don't communicate at all in the office as we'd get different staff members calling us and giving us different information to what their colleague had just told us (that is if you could actually speak to anyone who knew what was going on to start with). Unfortunately the house we originally wanted sold (don't know how Connells managed that one but it did take them about 5 months to complete). I think they have that many houses to try and sell, they probably only need to sell 50% of those that are on their book to still make a profit, so they're not that motivated in selling! Also, I went to go into their office on Monday 22nd December and they'd closed for Xmas - they didn't tell us that and all the other estate agents on that street were still open until Xmas eve! Thankfully we got out of the contract when we could - changed to Newton Fallowell LFE instead (would definitely recommend) sold in 3 days, for more than the asking price and moved in 9 weeks! Avoid Connells at all costs and would recommend Newton Fallowell instead.
