Cannot fault them at all- we had viewings booked ahead of marketing our house- they got us heaps of viewings- lots of offers and we sold our property within a week (to the first person that viewed!). Called us after every single viewing with feedback. Great app to track feedback and offers too which is helpful. Nick, Dan (and Richard) were absolutely fantastic. They also recommend a conveyancer who was phenomenal. Our house went on the market mid April and 3 months later we are done and dusted and in our lovely new home. Nick even went above and beyond post sale to make sure things ran smoothly for us every step of the way. We cannot rate them highly enough! Thank you!

Callum has been really professional all through the process. He promptly facilitated the communication between the vendor and myself for booking a viewing as well as all through the offer process. He issued written confirmations of every step speedily and professionally. I'd highly recommend working with Callum.
Also, his colleague Richard who did the viewing was courteous, knew the details of the property, and I could tell he had a good rapport with the vendor too. Thanks Richard.

Chancellors have a lot of good reviews on here for buying and selling properties, which allows them to hide the fact that their property management division (Thameside) are awful. I had the misfortune of appointing them to manage my property. Instead of getting the full managed service that I paid for, I ended up spending my time constantly correcting their errors and chasing them up for resolutions and updates. Issues with my property went unresolved for months because they failed to report them to me or failed to follow up with the tenants. They forgot to remit rent to me and would then remit incorrect amounts. After I handed in my 3 months' notice to them, they lost interest completely and stopped corresponding with me, but still continued to take their commission despite not actively managing the property. Their service was nothing short of negligent and I couldn't possibly recommend them to anyone. In fact, I would actively advise anyone to avoid ever getting involved with them.

I bought a house through Chancellors and they lied the entire way through the process. I bought based on a completion date of March 22. The agent agreed this was possible because the seller had completed their end and would move in with family while their house was built. March came and went. As did April, May and June. The agent just kept letting the dates slip. Each time I called, they said it was all a misunderstanding and we'd complete any day. My solicitor was reporting issues up the chain (the chain that didn't exist according to Chancellors). I asked Chancellors many times if the seller had changed their purchase and they said no.. all a misunderstanding. Finally completed in July 22 and when collecting the keys, a different agent mentioned what a nightmare it had been that the seller had pulled out and started again with a new house (assuming I knew). I complained to Chancellors and their director responded that it wasn't in my interests to know that the seller changed purchase! That because they were breaking chain regardless, to accommodate me, it was decided that it wouldn't impact my purchase! But it did! Because of problems with their new purchase, they decided not to break chain. The difference was 4 months, leaving me with nowhere to live and in a state of uncertainty for months, while they kept lying. Chancellors knew I was buying a date. I had a deadline to move and if we couldn't meet the March date, I was going into rented while I waited for a different house. So when the seller pulled out of their onward, Chancellors chose to mislead me, so that I wouldn't pull out. I would never sell through Chancellors or buy (even if I loved the house). I'll choose an agent who respects their clients enough to be honest.

Chancellors has by far been the best I have dealt with so far! Both Danielle and Ben have been very helpful and kept me updated on properties that may match my needs... other agents have been dismissive as soon as I've mentioned I have a dog, but I feel this agent has really tried to help me. I've also just dealt with Joseph at the High Wycombe branch who has been equally as professional/helpful.

Once again we have been completely failed by the Chesham branch and its managers. Our previous tenants vacated the property 4 months ago. It was recommended by Chancellors that we collect a small cleaning fee for the condition that the property was left in. Despite holding the deposit, Chancellors have still not released the cleaning money owned to us from the tenants.
What’s more disappointing, is unprofessional behavior of the Chesham branch. They have been ignoring calls and passing us around different people to appear that they are resolving the issue. It is very clear that they have no intention of giving us the cleaning fee or resolving the issue. Staff are rarely responded to emails and are unwilling to carry out the tasks that they are paid to do as property managers.
This is just one issues we have had, and we no longer have Chancellors managing the property. Avoid like Covid!
Unless other branches are vastly different from the Chesham Branch, I seriously doubt that other 5 star reviews are a genuine account of peoples experience with the company.

I rented from Chancellors and the below lettings reviews are 100% correct. They are a nightmare. When it suits them financially, they are nice to you. Once you sign, they are rude, constantly lie, especially Grace and Gemma. They will do anything to hold back your deposit. And will promote their inventry check in and out and their own cleaner, if you refuse, they will pick faults and try to deduct the deposit. My landlord was a really nice person fortunately and understood what crooks the lettings team were. It is a re-occuring pattern they try on anyone. I would strongly advise don't rent from these people. I will never use them again.

I don't normally post, but feel responsible for saving other prospective landlords the agony using Chancellors 'Chesham'.
There has been no benefit to using Chancellors. Only Stress! There is a general lack of courtesy and care since contracts have been signed.
When I had queries pertaining to charges on the account statements, I found responses very poor in detail, and at times rude and dismissive. It took 1 month for them to acknowledge a miscalculation had be made. I pointed out another possible discrepancy on the account, 2 months on and I am still waiting for a response as to whether there had been a mistake.
Communication and professionalism from the team really is terrible. Unfortunately you only discover this when the property needs attention/ Management.
When maintenance was needed on the property, we found the their contractor very poor. Work on the property was not completed and remained unchecked by chancellors. Despite the tenant and landlord raising the issue, chancellors ignored the complaint and negated any responsibility over the quality of their contractors work.
I ended up organizing my own contractors to fix the problem more than once at a personal cost.
Despite having my number they never call. Generally taking 1-2 weeks to respond to email (without any resolve).
I'm a very patient and reasonable person, but everyone has a limit.
Thanks

I can not recommend strongly enough not to use this company. The service received has not only been a disgrace from the branches but also from the directors office who are completely incompetent at even following their own complaints procedure. The mistakes are too many to mention but the most concerning is that in their incompetence they sent us an email containing all the bank account and personal details of another of their clients completely breaching data protection - something which they did not seem to believe was an issue Dispite the many many mistakes you will not be released from your contract as they state it's not a 'service linked contract' I suggest anyone who has had bad dealings with this company speaks with the Ombudsman who have been very interested in our dealings.

They lied about our landlord to us, and to him about us, to get money off us quicker, and though we finished our dealings with them 4 years ago, they keep emailing and phoning - and I have contacted them several times to have our details removed from their system. One phone call came about 30 minutes after one of my requests to stop calling! We even had a letter asking for more money to renew a contract after 3 years, even though the landlord wasn't using them any more - so glad we contacted the landlord before paying up. If the only way to buy/ rent the house of my dreams was through Chancellors, I would just have to miss out on it.

After many dealings with this company I can confidently tell you collectively they represent the worst traits found in estate agents. From knowingly leaving sold or let properties as available on their website to draw you in at the start, to flatly ignoring you during and at the end of the tenancy if you ever need them. If there isn't an opportunity for them to get as much money as possible out of you, they are not interested. Glad to finally nearly be done with these people although they still haven't released our deposit months later after countless promised callbacks to our calls and unanswered e-mails to date. If you want an estate agent that cares at least one iota for your custom, avoid.

I wish to say a huge thank you to Grace Curry at Chancellors Chesham for her help and dedication to her job. Our current landlord sold the property and I started a search for a new home just after Christmas (we had 4 months notice, so not a problem I thought). However, as we have 2 dogs, it was proving to be very difficult to find a property that would accept our beloved pets. But I then contacted Chancellors Chesham about a pet friendly property and Grace got me a viewing that day. Sadly the owners accepted another offer and I was left wondering if I should look into having the dogs re-homed which, after 6 years together, would have been heartbreaking. Anyway, Grace sent through details of other properties later that day and we arranged other viewings. But then, at 6.15pm, Grace phoned to say the original property I had enquired about was coming back on the market and would we still be interested in it? Obviously, the answer was Yes and the following morning I received an email from Grace at 7.05am to say she had arranged a viewing for that morning and I am happy to say we move in 2 days from now - and our doggies are coming too. I cannot reiterate enough how professional, helpful and friendly Grace has been at all times (even outside of her working hours). She has kept in touch throughout the whole process and we can`t thank her enough for her support and help in ensuring we have a lovely new home for us and our pets. So thank you sincerely Grace - you are an absolute trooper when doing your job. And Chancellors = you are very lucky to have such a wonderful and committed member of staff!!

What agent could do to change your mind?
Their problems are clearly due to organisational culture because looking at the reviews people are complaining the same issues. Standards are low. They focus mostly on making fast money. The property management side seems to attend only to landlords with multiple properties. Everyone else waits for months if there are problems. They need to seriously start providing a better quality of service and this may be only possible by bringing in professionals at the higher levels to change their culture.

£90 to renew a tenancy agreement. This constitutes them printing a Word document, sticking it in an envelope and mailing it. Total rip-off.

Don't be fooled by their marketing. Chancellors are one of the worst estate agents around especially if you are a tenant or a landlord renting through them. I rented from them for about three years and they were a terrible hassle both to me and the owner of the house.
This complaint about two branches, the Chesham one and their infamous Thameside Property Management department. This last one has a revolving door turnover.
My experience is in line with other negative experiences. In fact, we all seem to complain about the same things. They will happily take your money to arrange your contracts. And then the problems start:
-Soon after moving in I discovered that the washing machine was broken. It took one month to sort out. The agent (and these are often young kids with little qualifications) was caught lying to the contractor, tenant and landlord. He was telling me that he made arrangements with contractors to visit the property and I waited for weeks until I called the contractors only to be told that no one told them anything. This didn't happen just once or twice (see below).
-A year later the ceiling lights went out in the whole property due to faulty wiring. This took two months from beginning to end sort out. Thameside were dragging their feet, needed to be constantly chased and I caught them lying numerous times. Eventually I made it clear to them that I would complain to their regulators and they had a “property manager†assigned to the complaint.
-They choose the cheapest contractors in the area which means the jobs are rushed through and they often need to be called back to redo it. The electrician they sent the first time for the wiring told me that it was my fault: I must have plugged in a device that caused the breaker to trip. Obviously! Another contractor they sent in to re-decorate decided to cut tiles inside the house, coating everything with dust. When they finished redecorating they forgot to put a door back and left numerous scratches and smudges. You get what you pay for.
- At some point the owner had enough and decided the sell. The Chesham branch violated my contract by entering the place to show prospective buyers around without my knowledge. I made it clear to them that I would change the locks if they did it again, so instead I got endless pestering for next day viewings.
-Chancellors advertised properties to me when I already had a tenancy with one of their clients. Landlords- just think about this for a second. Your letting agent advertises properties to your tenant.
-Thameside are so disorganised they somehow entered my phone number on the wrong record and were phoning me about the wrong properties. It took dozens of calls before it occurred to one of them to change the record.
- Watch out for their hidden fees and pay attention to the contracts. Mine stipulated that the property be delivered “professionally cleaned throughout†even though it was noted dirty in the check-in. This clause violates OFT's guidelines who have ruled it unenforceable. You will find many such clauses in their contracts. At the end of the tenancy they tried to charge me hundreds of pounds for cleaning even though I left the place clean. The TDS adjudicator took my side and threw their claims out.
Their Bracknell department has an abysmal turnover rate. From the Chesham branch, only a gentleman by the name of Richard could be called professional.

I keep on calling this agent and she is always on another line and I never receive a call back from her; when I do manage to speak to her she says is too busy. The stuff here is just useless, very sloppy and unprofessional. I am in a situation that stresses me out an I think anyone would be stressed if they didn't know where they would line next week.
