* conduct as building manager at Chapel Street, Luton has been deeply unprofessional and, frankly, alarming. She has repeatedly made derogatory comments about my “smelly food” and “strong spices” — thinly veiled, culturally charged remarks clearly intended to shame and belittle me. She has also made inappropriate comments about male visitors, speaking as though my lawful guests are somehow a moral issue rather than my right as a tenant. She attempted to impose arbitrary “cooking slots” in the communal kitchen, despite having no contractual or legal authority to do so. The shared kitchen — which I pay rent to use — was treated as her personal space, with constant efforts to control when I could access it. At the same time, the buildingwide smoking ban in the tenancy agreement was reportedly ignored within her own room. The rules seemed to apply to me, but not to her. There have been multiple instances of muttered insults, raised voices and open hostility whenever I used communal spaces. She has stated she does not want “boys” in the kitchen, offering inappropriate justifications, which created an uncomfortable and genderbiased atmosphere. Even more concerning was the way CCTV systems intended building security appeared to be used to monitor movements, alongside encouraging cleaning staff to linger in shared areas in a way that felt less like maintenance and more like observation. The most serious issue has been the abuse of power. As both manager and cotenant, she blurred the line between professional responsibility and personal grievance. When the building manager is the source of the hostility, there is effectively no safe or impartial route to raise concerns. I should not have to feel bullied, culturally shamed, monitored or controlled in my own home. This behaviour falls far below the standard expected of anyone in a position of authority.
