Things had started well with North Kensington Property Consultants. They were courteous and responded to issues with the apartment, but as time went on, less so. Namely, several messages regarding insects and slugs constantly entering the apartment were not addressed; but the reason for editing my review came when I had moved out. £300 had been deducted from my deposit repayment. The reasons given for the deduction were claims that the apartment needed to be cleaned and the mattress needed to be replaced. Perhaps I was being naive, but I didn’t take pictures before moving out, as I could not have imagined or anticipated any problems given that I had thoroughly cleaned the apartment before I left, and in certain cases, left it in better condition (renovations had just finished when I moved in and there were paint streaks on the tiles on the walls in the bathroom and kitchen which I cleaned). In addition to a mattress protector, I used a fitted sheet and a regular sheet, so I couldn’t understand how the mattress would have been considered damaged in the 17 months I occupied the apartment. I didn’t, and still don’t, believe I should be responsible for these expenses and I hoped to resolve this matter amicably through conversation, so I began emailing NKPC in mid-May of this year. In June the agent I was speaking with said he’d get pictures from the landlord but I never saw any and still haven’t. In July (again, without having seen any pictures), I was asked how much I was willing to deduct as the matter had been dragging on. While I don’t believe the state I left the apartment warranted any additional cleaning or replacements, I offered £100 to close the matter. This exchange was at the end of July and I’ve heard nothing from them since. I sent 3 emails since to follow-up, my last being on October 6th. After which, because I wanted to move on and not have this continue to weigh on my mind and increase my stress, I accepted the deduction so I could get the remaining deposit. It’s been another two months since and I have not heard anything. The actions of this agency have proven to be incredibly unprofessional, I feel cheated out of my full deposit, and I would never recommend this letting agency to anyone.
