As a tenant, I cannot recommend this agency. The tenancy agreement included a clause requiring one month’s notice at the end of a fixed-term tenancy. We considered this clause to be unfair, and the agency attempted to charge us additional rent based on it. We disputed this and raised the matter with the deposit protection scheme, which ultimately ruled fully in our favour. Separately, we had to take the landlord to court to recover the cost of repairs that we had paid for ourselves after the landlord failed to reimburse us. The landlord accepted our claim and repaid us in full. Based on my experience, tenants should be aware of their rights and proceed with caution when dealing with this agency.

Once you decide to rent a property through Hausman and Holmes, the following fees will apply. Before the tenancy starts payable to Hausman and Holmes Holding Deposit: Equivalent to 1 weeks rent. (A holding deposit is requested from a tenant to reserve a property whilst reference checks and preparation for a tenancy agreement are undertaken.) Deposit: For tenancies with an annual rent of less than £50,000 the deposit shall be equivalent to 5 weeks rent. For tenancies with an annual rent of £50,000 or more the deposit shall be equivalent to 6 weeks rent. Your deposit plus the first month's rent in advance will be due in cleared funds prior to the commencement of the tenancy. All clients deposits held by Hausman and Holmes are held in accordance with My Deposits (TDSL).
