J Aland are incredibly rude, unprofessional and patronising to their student tenants. After living in one of their properties a year whilst a student at the University of Bath, I experienced many cases of impolite and incompetent communication with these letting agents. There were several maintenance issues went unresolved months despite being reported multiple times. Reports that were answered generally started with the agent placing immediate blame on us, the tenant, even before hearing the full issue. When problems were acknowledged, the initial response was usually to blame tenants before even understanding the issue. On one occasion, we were threatened with being charged an entirely kitchen floor before a contractor had even inspected it - the contractor later repaired the small tear in minutes. I would strongly discourage students from renting through J Aland and urge landlords to think carefully before listing their property with them.
