rented a property managed by Vaughan Hammond over five years. During that time, David Hammond, as director, repeatedly failed to uphold basic legal and ethical standards expected of a letting agent. Despite raising multiple complaints about serious disrepair — including black mould, electrical hazards, severe damp, and structural issues — very little was done. In some cases, I had to carry out repairs myself just to make the property habitable. When I finally brought in professional surveyors to assess the damp, instead of resolving the issues, the landlord issued a Section 21 eviction notice. The timing strongly suggests this was retaliatory — something that is unlawful under the Deregulation Act 2015. David Hammond oversaw all of this, including the agency's refusal to deal with statutory repairs and its failure to act in good faith. In my experience, Vaughan Hammond is not a professional or trustworthy agency, and David Hammond has demonstrated a consistent pattern of neglect and avoidance of responsibility. I would not recommend this agency to any tenant or landlord.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
