I spoke with a staff member today 19th March 2025 at the Manhattan estate agency in Bolton about my interest in viewing a property listed in Hallbridge Gardens. She inquired I had a homeowner guarantor, and I asked her to clarify the requirements someone to fulfill that role. She explained that the person must own a home. I then asked my workplace could serve as a guarantor, and she questioned how long I had lived in the country, noting from my accent that I was not originally from England. I replied that I had been here 20 years, to which she responded in a patronizing tone, "You mean you've lived here 20 years and don't know anyone who owns a home to act as your guarantor?" Her rudeness left me stunned and brought tears to my eyes. I told her that her comment sounded very condescending, and she apologized, saying, "I'm sorry, but you should know someone who owns a home, as that's what landlords require now, I'm afraid." I don't typically ask people whether they rent or own their homes, and I'm appalled that an employee from this estate agency would treat someone this way. Such encounters can impact people's mental health. I'm extremely disappointed. I spoke to the staff member at 4:24 PM. I wanted to speak with Risham, who had contacted me earlier about the property. You can verify this through your phone records; your staff needs training in manners and empathy.
