Unfortunately I have to agree with the negative reviews that Romans Lettings received on this page. We were a first time landlord more forced to lease of our home due to the dire situation on the house market than being a landlord of choice. On the month to month basis the response from the staff seems to be ok, I would not say good or even excellent as despite having a Romans recommended tenant, the rent was late 3 months in a row which we have only found out due to lack of money in the bank account rather than being informed by the agent, the property report was late each but the first quarter but at least any issues that the tenant requested were dealt with promptly. Only after the tenant left we have learned the terrible truth of being a landlord via Romans lettings - basically you should not care about your property and have pots of cash for repairs as any tenant and agents liabilities are minimal. But of course you are not told things like if you have a wallpaper in your house and leased the house to family with children it is your responsibility for the damage as you accept the risk of damage, child locks holes have not damaged your new kitchen cabinets beyond the point of use, forget recovering any damage cost at arbitration as we have seen it all and you are dreaming etc when taking the expensive fully managed property lease with Romans, unfortunately they are more interested in getting the monthly fee and having any tenant in your house without properly informing you about risk first. As a landlord with Romans you are left with nothing but feeling helpless and seriously hoping you will never have to rent your house again.

4 Jun 2013I agree romans charges are really high but service we get is of poor quality. ROMANS need to charge for their service but we want respectful treatment from your agents. I was trying to buy a property advertised through romans recently. It was one of the worst experience I ever had in comparison to my previous purchase. I cant understand, why are you in the market when you treat a potential buyer with no respect. Buying a property is a life time event. Do your agents really understand this? I think it is the bad culture in whole of organisation. I was never informed adequately of the property and the sale process. Every time I had to chase them to find if vendor had accepted my offer. The response I had was they could not hold of vendor. How on earth is that possible? If someone is genuinely trying to sale his property, he will respond any communication from the agent , don't he? Agents kept me in darkness all the time. They never informed me what was happening. I had to call them if they had contacted the vendor. What kind of service is that. I just feel I was unfairly treated. I know you may be dealing with hundreds of property but that is the only one property for me which your agent need to understand. I don't recommend romans , Services are really poor and their charges are sky high!!!

Romans have some of the most extensive range of fees I have seen and this was one of my reasons for moving elsewhere.
Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
