Totally unethical! If ever there was an agency that gives the whole industry a bad name it's the Grantham branch of Haart. We've been on the market for under 2 weeks and in that time have been contacted by Haart three times to move agents. We've had someone at the door, a phone call and now they're mailing handwritten notes stating that we need to call them. Each time we've told them we're happy with our agents (and if we weren't Haart would be the last people we'd call) and requesting they stop but they still keep contacting. In our town they're known for this practice and have even had some of our more elderly residents in tears. They just keep plugging and plugging like the out-dated hard sell. They're obviously unconcerned by reputation as long as some poor fools are using them. Unfortunately we can stop them doing it to us through the Property Ombudsman but there's nothing in place in regulation to stop them doing it to others unless each individual person reports so the Ombudsman isn't worth a jot.

23 Mar 2010Hi TVR. I am sorry you have been upset by our proactive approach. I can ensure we don't contact you again if you can provide your details to me at melanie.smith@spicerhaart.co.uk. Many thanks.

20 May 2010Where there is high demand any agent would be foolish to merely sit in their office and wait for the business to walk through he door because their competition would be mopping up. These people sound awfully keen in asking for business and that is all.Out of sight - out of mind, and that is a fact of life. Let us imagine your idealistic world. You sit at home and no business employs direct mailing.Would you ever hear of that 2 for 1 great pizza deal, that free 1st month at the gym,the identity of your local candidate for X party, that lovely new family restaurant just down the road,a local painter and decorator/plumber/electrician etc.. Would they survuve this recession without ensuring their name is not kept in the public domain? No they certainly would not and were they to know that you were the one whose campaigning stopped their ability to do so--would they thank you for it? I think not. All businesses are fighting to stay out of the red in this recession, estate agents included ,and it would be follhardy of them not to ask for business by canvassing for sales opportunities. If you dont like something on TV you switch over. If you find no use for a harmless piece of paper you put it in One of those Plastic Recycling Bin Bags supplied by the local authority.Simple.You dont have to read it,if of no interest, you dont have to complain about it,you merely dispose of it--like the majority of Normal human beings. Odd people on the other hand, and,in the main, people whose lives are pretty boring with far too much time on their hands, will opt to take great offence,to complain,to raise hell,to commence a campaign etc.. in order to actually feel as though they are doing something useful because in ther Odd world it fills them with some kind of self importance?? It does take all sorts of people to make a world but the Oddest ones of the lot are those who choose to take offence because of a piece of paper??? You could,nt make it up but Odd people do because and put quite simply--they 100% guaranteed have nothing better to do. I am ever so grateful for taxi firms, pizza firms, local restaurants and local tradesmen dropping cards in and even estate agents as they do tend to let us all know what is for sale/selling around about us and in so doing they are providing a service to the community and only Odd people would not recognise that. So TVR (a car that is reknowned for break downs) relax, calm down, put it in recycling or you will push yourself into a nervous breakdown

21 Oct 2010They're not hand written notes its a handwritten font on a computer. We went away when we returned we had 3 letters saying 'we have good news'. When we put them together the writing was exactly the same.

Having just reviewed the excellent service that we received from the agents in our new location, we looked-up Haart out of interest following our exceptionally poor experience of selling through them. Sadly, we were some of the 'poor saps' that fell for the patter and lived to regret it. The... Read Full Review
