We’ve been in the process of buying a house since August last year. The estate agent at Bernard Skinner, Steven, ensured we were tied in as much as possible in terms for paying for valuation and searches and pod hundreds of pounds towards the process as well as all the time spent getting a mortgage approved. We were assured by the estate agent that we would be moving in by January 2022 latest. When January finally came we were told that the date we would move would undetermined and possibly late 2022 by which point our mortgage would’ve expired. Because of the fact we were unsure about when we would be moving we conducted other viewings with the same estate agent at properties in the same area. During one of the viewings the estate agent informed us they had put the property we had had an offer accepted on back on the market without consulting us either by voicemail or email. They said they had done this because they believed we had pulled out of the property which is not true. I believe they put the property back on the market and gazumped is because they felt they might be able to get a better offer on it. The estate agents were also dishonest with the vendors, informing them that we lived with our parents which is also untrue. Be very careful with these unscrupulous estate agents. We will be reporting them to the appropriate regulatory authority in due course.
