I rented a property through Spencer's of the New Forest. I had a terrible experience with them. They were responsible for finding a tenant and showing the property, they also provided notice when the tenancy agreement was not renewed and they organised the inventory for check in and check out. However, whenever I had issues with the landlords, they absolved themselves of all responsibility. They often ignored my correspondence and only months later told me they didn't manage the property. It seems they collected fees when it suited them but took no responsibility during a very unpleasant tenancy when issues arose with the landlord. I would never recommend them. When speaking with them regarding trying to obtain my deposit back, the agent told me she doesn't want to get involved and doesn't want to engage in any communication with me. Incredibly unprofessional and, again, did work when it financially benefitted them, but washed their hands of any responsibility. They were going on to sell the property so they wanted me out and to shut up. Ultimately they just want to make money on lettings and sales and couldn't be bothered supporting tenants as we aren't their bread and butter.
