Avoid like the plague. After having our offer accepted by the landlord, I emailed the estate agents asking when the appliance due to be replaced would be replaced, and whether the intercom would be fixed as we had noticed it was broken. A senior member of staff called Theresa called me back and was extremely rude and unprofessional, ranting at how they weren't going to be renovating the place for us (...which we didn't ask them to), that they'd (apparently) never heard of issues with the intercom before, and interrogating me as to how I knew this. She asked me not to put a holding deposit down and said that viewings would continue. So congratulations to whoever gets that apartment! You will be gifted a broken intercom, an appliance that may or may not be replaced before you move in, and the wonderful management of a clearly shambolic company and nasty woman who will kick off at you if you ever report any problem with your home. We withdrew our offer immediately as there were so many red flags that this was going to be the kind of estate agent that takes months to get back to you about any problem and when they do, it will inevitably be your fault. Couldn't believe how we were being treated before we were even tenants! I pity the landlords who clearly miss out on income as a result of this individual's behaviour and the tenants who have to put up with their nonsense. It is only fair to say that the first and second estate agents we had contact with who were less senior were very lovely and helpful, it's a shame the senior staff/management aren't anywhere near as mature and professional.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
