I rented a property with 5 other girls in my last year of uni. The previous tenants were burgled twice through the same window in the kitchen - Tomlinson's did not tell us this, the tenants did. Despite the burglaries tomlinsons did nothing to add security to that window or downstairs at all. We begged for them to - they laughed at us - we kept pushing for extra security and they blacklisted our calls. Consequently, we were also burgled twice through that exact same window. The first time, we were all asleep and in the house. We pushed for more security and were laughed at once again - and BLAMED for the burglary. We said we would add our own security measures and were told that we would lose our deposit. 2 months later we were burgled again - we were all at home for Christmas - so the burglars tore our rooms apart and we only found out weeks later when we walked into the mess. This is distressing for anyone - but as a house of all girls we were extremely concerned for our safety. Once again, Tomlinson's tried to say this was our fault, and made a joke out of it. They did not install ANY safety measures - my parents had to come up and do it all. As well as the burglaries, we had a serious issue with the cleanliness of the house. Moving into the property, the house had mold up the walls and curtains. Kitchen cupboards were hanging off the hinges and it hadn't even been hoovered. It was clear that they had not inspected the property at all. At the end of our tenancy, we deep cleaned the house, it was in a far, far better condition than it had been received. Yet, we were still charged £500 for cleaning - they do this to every single property regardless of the cleanliness. We managed to get half back. The agents at Tomlinson's are some of the rudest people I have ever met, they have 0 respect for students. They also broke tenancy laws while in lockdown. Our neighbour contacted us to let us know that our back door had been wide open so he had called the police. There was no sign of a burglary and the alarm which we had set was not going off. We called Tomlinson's, who had NOT notified us that the police had visited our property and filed a report. They proceeded to tell us: 1. The wind blew our door open (which is heavily bolted, especially after several burglaries) 2. they had tried to contact us (we asked for proof in phone records - they couldn't provide any proof) Ultimately, the only way that the door could have been left open was if someone had entered the property, turned off the house alarm, which needs a code, and unlocked the back door from the inside. Tomlinson's had entered our property (without 24 hours notice) to do an inspection. Tomlinsons have absolutely no regard or respect for student tenants. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!!!
