I had unfortunately signed up to pay half of the contract on a house in which i had lived with my ex. I verbally agreed with Jamie to stay 2 months. My ex said he had read the contract over but we were in fact stuck for 5 months. My mistake. i had to pay all long after our breakup because my ex claimed not to be receiving benefits from the government, they knew i was really struggling and still squeezed every last penny they could out of me for cleaning fee, supposed damage fees. They charged me the full deposit, £750, for my exes supposed mess. My ex sent pics of the room to me and it was spotless. I felt harassed by Jamie. I had left a bad relationship and he would include me in emails to my ex all the time in order to embarrass my ex- although I repeatedly asked him not to. For instance he wrote to both of us to say my ex was reportedly leaving skidmarks in the toilet, smoking in the room, arguing with flatmates. I wish I was joking. He had misogynistic expectations about my role of responsibility in making my ex behave. He would ring me up and bloviate. it wasn't my responsibility. For people with proper jobs, it is irritating to be called by their landlord all the time. He seemed to have too much free time and yet never fixed a single thing we complained about.
