Short story - landlords, avoid like the plague. I had an extremely awful experience with Priors, upon reading the other real review on here we share similar stories, ones of deceit and rudeness. Bias opinions aside, the contract we were made to sign was faulty, as per government restrictions any lettings agent should not put in a contract that the tenant HAS to pay for private cleaning, we were told to use the priors residential contractors, which we are confident Priors take money on top of, as we got one of them to quote us and then a week later Priors sent us an invoice with a higher amount than we were quoted, when we questioned it we had no response, no apology, just a new invoice. That is the theme with Priors, Jane and Kevin are incredibly unresponsive and just plain rude. Jane went onto my personal facebook page whilst I was self isolating (we delayed the cleaners coming in because I didnt want to risk anyone catching anything) and I had a picture of me out on a walk, to which Jane commented under saying she thought I was isolating? We were only in the property for 6 months and when we left, having cleaned the entire house, hoovered etc we were told we MUST have a cleaner, oven cleaner and carpet cleaner. We agreed to the oven cleaner but said we would do the carpets and cleaning ourselves. When we left we were told that the cleaning and carpets weren't up to scratch, the carpets I fail to see how in 6 months with no stains or marks they could justify. But with Priors being in control of the third party contractors this is probably just a way to make a bit extra cash.. forcing the tenants to pay EVERY time for all 3 contractors, which so happen to be Priors... coincidental. The points go on, I am a landlord myself for another property and I would not want Jane or Kevin to come anywhere near the tenants that I had in there. Even when we did have issues, a shed was promised to us when we moved in, bathroom cabinet, extractor fan for shower.. it took months for the shed and cabinet to be put in and in our 6 months we never had the extractor fan. There was 1 time also where they let a contractor into the house without telling us.. we were at work and came home to doors opened that we had closed, it was only when I noticed new bathroom shower hooks that I assumed that they had let themselves in, very worrying. I am sure they will comment below this with some 1 sided story about how it was all our fault. Just be very wary, even if these guys are the cheapest around I would STRONGLY advise looking for an alternative.

13 Jan 2021What an unpleasant review from an outgoing tenant that did not get what they wanted. Just to clarify our contract states that the property should be returned to us in the same standard of cleanliness. The property had been professionally cleaned before this tenant moved in. At the end of the tenancy an independent check out report picked up several cleaning issues which were documented by photographic evidence. We suggested known contractors to us be used to correct these, as the keys had been returned following check out. I refute that Priors take any money from any cleaning contractors and never will. This is something we are very against on principle to the tenant and contractor. All contractors will confirm this fact if requested. The large majority of tenants leave the property in good order, but occasionally some will feel they can clean the property to save money. When this falls short of the original standard on entry we have every right to request this being corrected to protect our landlord. This review is quite personal about us, as the owners of this business and not accurate. It is sad that people feel the need to write these type of reviews. We have a very high number of long term landlords and tenants. I do not think that would be the case if what was written was factual. I would be very pleased to discuss this with any potential landlord or tenant if they have any concerns. Kevin Prior Managing Director

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
