This review is about the property management agents, not the similarly named letting agents. They split several years ago. These people dont follow the section 20 notice procedure, charge ridiculous amounts for small repairs, cleaning and the main redecoration jobs, and receive commissions on the works. Previous redecoration quality was so poor we have had to pay repeatedly for additional works and now we are £35,000 short for the next scheduled redecoration. AVOID anything to do with them.

12 Jun 2019Priors follows all Landlord and Tenant legislation for qualifying works. There is no charge made for minor works by the managing agent. Major works (qualifying works) attract a professional fee for the employment of a building surveyor or other property professional in relation to the specific project and in accordance with the sum stated (normally a percentage of the cost of the works) in the section 20 notice. No commissions have been charged as alleged. Major works are competitively tendered in order to achieve value for money.

12 Jun 2019A professional fee based on a major works cost is to all intents and purposes the same as a commission, and is a conflict of interest as it may incentivise the managing agent not to control tenant's costs. I did not specifically say you charged commissions on everything but you do on major works which is where most of the pain comes from. You fail to comment on the legally required s20 notices. Our costs have risen at least 42% in five years despite inflation being very low.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
