“Hi, how are you?” I asked twice with no reply as two people from Rent a Home walked straight past me and into my home without wiping their feet or asking if it was okay to wear shoes in my flat. They didn't offer their names (or any ID for that matter), the first offered “I need your kitchen” by way of a greeting and the other did not acknowledge my presence. Once in my kitchen their task was to do a PAT (or electrical safety) test on my landlord-owned kitchen appliances. They tested the freezer, then realised that the washing machine, fridge and oven sockets were behind their respective appliances. The fridge earned its self an electrical safety sticker despite no-one even touching it. They tested the washing machine drum for an electrical current; surprise, surprise, it had none, and they turned the oven on and off again, and popped a sticker on it. This is the kind of high quality service that I've come to expect from a letting agent whose letters are so poorly written they look fraudulent, and staff so disorganised I'm amazed they found their way to my flat. At least I only waited in for 4 hours for them, that's an improvement on last time.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
