When I moved into my flat it was absolutely putrid. Certain parts of it hadn't seemed to be cleaned in years! For example- the air vent in the kitchen was actually sealed over with a thick brown tar which was even running down the pull cord and dripping onto the kitchen work surface! The kitchen floor was caked in mouse droppings, dead insects, and bits of food, dust, slimy cutlery etc. That's just 2 of the 100 examples of filth. Throughout my tenancy they were very slow and reluctant to carry out very necessary repairs- i.e. the kitchen floor caving in etc. Initially the property had a faulty outdated boiler and a gas engineer actually told me that he hadn't seen one like that in decades! I quickly started to suffer from symptoms of low exposure carbon monoxide poisoning- and sure enough my CO alarm indicated low levels of CO! Instead of immediately sending out a gas safety engineer as they should have- they instead insisted that the alarm was faulty and simply replaced it. The new alarm also went off. And to my absolute shock Allied Homes did the same thing again, just insisted the new alarm was faulty and gave me a 3rd alarm!!! (which went off again). If I had the time and energy I would pursue legal action for this dangerous level of neglect. I had to argue with them for many months before they finally replaced the boiler. When I vacated the property it was thoroughly cleaned (despite being given to me filthy), and the property has been vastly improved by my insistence on them carrying out various repairs. What thanks did I get for it? They tried to take deposit money from me, making up a list of "damages", actually going so far as to tell me I had "defaced" the property. Thankfully I am used to dealing with con artist landlords and so I had photographic evidence that disproved all of their lies. I got my deposit back in the end despite their best efforts to steal from me. Please avoid Allied Homes. It's not worth the major stress!

This tenant had major issues and had not made one single comment throughout a 2 year tenancy either at the beginning re cleanliness or at the end until he was effectively challenged over issues on vacation of the flat one of which he admitted to i e tearing the new lino to which he simply responded that he did it accidentally as if this somehow makes it ok. He even said that it was not my staff he had a problem with but me even though after the c02 monitor at the outset of the tenancy I had little or no dealings with him. We replaced the boiler in the property mainly because despite being told several times how to use the old one he claimed he could not work it .It is worth noting that after it was replaced he told my staff that he did not use it at all. We take safety very seriously and the monitor was an issue but the gas engineer found no traces of Co2 but just to be on the safe side the owner changed the boiler and indeed the flooring when he complained about a hole in the floor. The photos he has do not show the flat as a whole which was anything but putrid. At some point during his tenancy he took photos of a clogged extractor fan and pulled out an appliance to take the other. This tenant was very secretive and did not welcome visitors to his flat and due to his signal/lack of credit we had to contact him several times to arrange tradesmen. Therefore it was he who was causing the delays in repairs not the other way round .He did disparage the owners tradesmen blaming them for missed appointments so he has form in doing this. What is more when we had a report of his having mice he would have been given the relevant nos and told to contact the council to deal direct as this would have been their procedures at the time to hopefully remedy this matter. We have had no complaints about our service at all from him throughout his tenancy and surely if we were as bad as he made out he would have complained repeatedly. We have acted responsibily in all our dealings with him even when he had gas safety inspections where he missed appointments and they had to go away. His justification for this was he did not use the boiler. We have been around in this business for 27 years and pride ourselves in our dealings with all our customers and to receive such a review which is wholly untrue, has wounded us deeply as we did nothing but assist him throughout his tenancy. We are putting this down to sour grapes due to the fact he was challenged at the end of the tenancy .The emails attached show part of our dealings with this tenant and these were within 3 months of his moving in and very little since then and none with complaints against ourselves.

So many lies in that reply- and some of them are rather obvious as lies when you think about it. First of all- quick overview; I am no longer their tenant- and yet here I am spending my free time writing these long messages. I would have no motivation to say any of this had I not been severely mistreated. The photos were taken on the day I moved in and Susan knows that. If you look at the photos it is obvious that this is NOT dirt that I created myself to frame them- the photos clearly show such thick and dirty grease that it obviously took years to develop. Also- had the flat been clean, what would my motivation be to frame them?! So that's an obvious lie right there. You mention that one of the photos is simply me "pulling out an appliance" to take a photo. You are 100% correct! What's your point? Are you saying that it was acceptable for me to find a sea of old food and mouse droppings behind the oven? The fact that you consider me a "problem tenant" for having basic standards is embarrassing and disturbing in equal measure. Next- Susan claims I never mentioned any problems throughout my tenancy, only at the end to try and get my deposit back. FALSE. I complained to them about all of the issues. They ignored a lot of my emails however and so I was forced to spend much of my free time going into their office to try and get them to fix things, face to face, Susan actually scolded once for coming into the office so much and continuously bothering them! Trust me Susan- I didn't want to spend a single second in your office- I wanted you to communicate with me via email, and to make important repairs. But you were unwilling to uphold your responsibilities and turned this into many lengthy battles. I'm sure in response to this you will attach an email that you replied to in order to prove me wrong- but you know you largely ignored me and forced me to chase after you in person. When I left the property I was expecting to be charged for the kitchen lino which I accidentally tore because it was put in badly by a dodgy handyman- the lino was far too large for the room, meaning it was full of large wrinkles and warps which is why I accidentally tore it when moving the fridge/freezer to clean behind it (I actually clean flats unlike Allied Homes!). I pointed out the warping of the lino at my next flat inspection but Susan thought that it was acceptable so that was that. So I was prepared to POTENTIALLY pay for the lino damage despite the poor fitting. However when they sent me list of made up damages in order to steal more money from me- I decided I would not be paying them a single penny as they are con artists. As soon as responded to them that I had photographic evidence that they were lying they released my deposit immediately! I also threatened to report them to the appropriate authorities regarding hygiene. That is clearly suspicious behaviour- if they actually believed that I had caused all of the listed damaged- then they would not have released the full deposit! . It also shows that they knew my flat was a health and safety breach and my photos proved it. (the photos above are only a small sample of the filth by the way). During our email exchange about deposit money- the amount that they tried to charge me went down and down as they were trying to see how much they could haggle out of me! Haggling with me is very suspicious behaviour. Had they not been making up the damage- they would have stood firm regarding how much I owe them. I obviously stood firm and continuously repeated that I owe them nothing and they will not steal from me! So keep that in mind when you decide who is being honest here. They say that I never reported a mouse problem to them- CORRECT. I reported the mouse problem to the council and they sorted it. So I'm not sure what Susan is complaining about there? They say I was secretive and pretended that I had a bad mobile phone signal. I really did have a bad phone signal- is that so hard to believe? On the rare occasion they allowed a tradesperson to visit me I always communicated well with the tradesperson- obviously I wanted them to be there to fix the problems, duh! I did actually have a problem with the company Allied Homes outsourced to do annual gas safety checks (the power service was the company name)- they kept on arranging appointments with me and then just not showing up! Repeatedly making me wait at home all afternoon for nothing! This is what Susan talks about above when she says I blamed them for missed appointment. Of course I blamed them for missed appointments. Would anyone be happy to wait around for engineer who doesn't show up? So I'm not sure what Susan was clutching at here. Another weak point. And why are they saying that I didn't welcome visitors into my flat? Every time Allied asked for permission to access my flat I gave it to them! When they asked if they could show the prospective new tenant around the flat whilst I was abroad I said sure go for it. When they wanted to do an inspection while I was at work I said sure let yourself in. So yeah Susan really is just desperately fumbling for lies at this point. Susan mentions that I told her my problem is with her specifically and not the other staff members. That is correct- I absolutely said that. It's Susan that took charge of any major issues I had- and she proved herself to be a rogue letting agent. What's her point? Its nice that she acknowledged above that the CO alarm was issue. She certainly didn't acknowledge it at the time- as I've already said, she just kept on getting new alarms installed. When the 2nd or 3rd alarm went off (cant quite remember)- Susan actually insisted on visiting me to check the alarm herself. She came over and stared at the alarm and then said to me, I KID YOU NOT, maybe the air is just stale? When 2 or 3 CO alarms go off in a row, and a tenant complain about symptoms of low exposure CO poisoning- that is an emergency! How dare she come over herself, a letting agent with no training regarding gas safety, at her convenience and tell me that "perhaps the air is stale!". And the email attached to Susan's reply where she proves that a gas engineer was involved- Yes she got them involved long after she should have and only due to my repeated insistence. "We replaced the boiler in the property mainly because despite being told several times how to use the old one he claimed he could not work it"- INCORRECT. I knew full well how to work it- but it was faulty and the house was like a sauna in the winter despite the heating being switched off. This is because the boiler was an outdated boiler where the water tank needed to be kept heated constantly- as opposed to the newer boilers where the water is heated only as and when you use it. The hot water pipes were completely uninsulated and these 2 factors combined turned my flat into a sauna and gave me an extortionate gas bill. A gas engineer told me that he hadn't seen a boiler like that in decades and that it absolutely needed to be replaced. Susan claimed that it was "only a suggestion" and so it would not be replaced- although it eventually got replaced, reluctantly, after the CO fiasco and a lengthy battle on my part. Anyway I will end this novel for now. Once again- would I really be going to alllllllllll of this effort- if Allied Homes were anything other than awful?

I have just left a review when i saw this toxic deformation of character review from a mad man .... Why did you move into the flat in the first place on a business level I have know Allied Homes for over 20 years and what you are saying is at the very least appallingly.... Allied Homes is a very professional outfit for the land lord and tenant as I return from abroad to move back into my home without any doubt leaving decisions and all work for them to oversee and apart being charged a bit to much for an inside handle everything has been done to a very high standard it is also worth noting that Allied Homes don’t own the property but letting as a 3 rd party ..... Allied homes had been in business for as long as I can remember it’s a shame that all the happy and contented Allied Homes has that this out of touch with reality is allowed to leave slanderous comments obviously directed strictly at Susan and not her thriving happy business ....

Hi All, this is my response to the comment from Lesley; Hi Lesley, Thank you for posting your extremely suspicious response. The fact that you seem personally attacked and extremely emotional over the fact that I have left Allied Homes/ Susan a terrible review strongly implies that you have close personal ties with the aforementioned. I find it hard to believe that you are nothing more than a satisfied client of theirs. If I saw a bad review of a company that I had received good service from, I would be surprised at most. But furious and emotional? Of course not. Maybe you should have posted something along the lines of "I was surprised to see such a negative review, as my experience with them has been the exact opposite". But to rant and rage and accuse me of lies and defamation? I'm literally a stranger to you and you have no way of knowing what MY OWN experience with Allied Homes was like. Stick to your own experience Lesley! Your comment could not come across more suspicious. My review still stands and I still feel obliged to warn people about the appalling mistreatment I received from Allied Homes/Susan. As I keep saying over and over; If Allied homes were as amazing as Lesley claims- why would I be writing all of this? What would my motivation be? Can someone please answer that simple question for me? Or better still, answer this question; When I left their property, Allied Homes informed me that they would be keeping hundreds of pounds of my deposit due to a list of damages I had supposedly incurred. Why did they then release my FULL deposit IMMEDIATELY after I told them that I had photographic evidence proving that those damages were all there when I moved in. I am literally asking if Allied Homes can please answer those 2 questions. Thanks. Ross

At the end of my lease, Susan attempted to force me to pay an additional fee instead of returning, to me, the amount of my deposit that I was due. She attempted this by sending me a long, demeaning email, including a theatrical description of her “disappointment” and the ... Read Full Review
