Very disappointed in this agency. Lost deposit when we rented through them. Would not recommend them at all.

30 Jul 2013Open Homes would like to strongly stress that we do not retain any Tenancy Deposits for any property. It has been a legal requirement that a tenant’s deposit is registered, and on occasions deposited with a Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS). The Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) is run by The Dispute Service Ltd and is an insurance backed tenancy deposit protection scheme authorised by the government. The TDS has two main roles; Firstly it is to protect deposit for the Tenant throughout the duration of the tenancy, and secondly it is to help resolve disputes about deposits. These disputes are resolved directly with both the Landlord and the tenant by the Dispute Service Ltd. Open Homes will always do everything in our power to help bring deposit disputes to a swift conclusion if required. However we would like stress that Open Homes have only had to assist with two disputes that were both resolved amicably with tenant and landlord. We therefore do not have any knowledge of the above matter and would welcome the chance to discuss this with the applicant as we have no record of either their name, tenancy, deposit, or any previously raised concerns. We feel it unfair to make such comments without giving us the opportunity to discuss the matter in person.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
