Lacks professionalism - Does not inspire confidence. I booked a valuation online supplying the property and my contact details. The next day I received a call from the branch to arrange the valuation, arrangements were made for Friday 23 June 13:00 with Mark Boulton. On the arranged day I travelled to the property (a 30 mile round trip) and was dropped off at 12:50, I prepared the property and waited for Mark Boulton to arrive. At 13:15 I called the Heywood office to understand why there was a delay to be greeted with an answer service where I left a message. At 13:45 i called again and was met once again with the answer service (no message left), at that point I decided to call it a day. At 14:10 I received a call from the branch (Karen??) where the appointment time of 13:00 was confirmed, I was then told Mark Boulton called at the address and nobody was there....'absolute rubbish' was my response. I was then asked the property address (which I gave... and had previously supplied online) and was then told Mark Boulton had called at the wrong house number! Convenient! If what i was told was genuine and not a poor excuse for a lack of competency and professionalism, surely something as fundamental as the valuation address and the client's contact details should have been to hand? Surely if there was no answer at the door you would make a call? If you didn't have the details to hand (sloppy) surely you would call the office for them and THEN make a call? Yes, you would think! If this is the level of competency and behaviour at valuation stage (pre-client), lord knows what level of competency and service you would receive as a seller or as a property management client paying a monthly fee! My experience did not inspire confidence and as the adage goes, you don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. I respectfully declined an offer to re-schedule the valuation and will find an alternative agent to act on my behalf. My message would be to consider my experience as a flag....

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
