I am much happier to write good reviews than bad as is born out across reiew the web for vaious suppliers. But as I wait for emails to be responded to for the last time by JL I have become annoyed enough to warrant complaining about the level of service. In trying to buy this house we did everything we could to make the process as smooth as possible for the vendor, ticking boxes and making payments as quickly as we could and yet having a vendor estate agent who only works until 1pm doesn't seem very practical and not a great start from our point of view, That said there may be good reasons for this schedule but if those who are supposed to react in his absence don't react - any kind of reasonable service level is untenable. When buying a house this is very frustrating to have so many emails and calls just go unanswered after promises of call backs or emails that never come. Though this isn't an uncommon complaint, I am an experienced buyer and on the purchase of my 4th property I can say that this has been the most frustrating relationship yet. I also had complaints about the owner of the property, not that JL can be held accountable fo this but when we moved into a house with a broken boiler in sub zero temperatures in Jan and appealed for help with the age, model, anything for the boiler to work out whether it was broken or just needed to be worked differently, our request fell on deaf ears. At JL whom we asked if they might call the owner and ask for a manual or any help they promised a call back that day and we never heard from them again. It cost us �235 on the spot plumber costs (with a further �150 for parts) and ruined our moving in day. Since then I have discovered a lot of shoddy work done on the house, again not JL's fault but on requesting the simple detail of what tiles they had used in the kitchen (which they hadn't finished) so that we could complete the job, again, no response from JL as to whether they had forwarded the question or just planned to ignore it - unimpressed. The only staff member who was efficient at all times was Luke who was kind, helpful and patient with any enquiries. I know all estate agents have a bad reputation but I found all the othrs in the chain much more efficient. JL were perfectly pleasant but seemingly incapable of good service. Phew, venting done, I feel much better and am going to get back to more positive uses of my time!

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
