In my recent experience Anthony James has provided very poor customer service. On visiting their office in Bristol the staff seemed confused and unsure of what paperwork was needed and of what property I was moving into and which room was available. They were equally confused as to the length of the tenancy (we had to correct the contract ourselves) and which rooms were available to let. They gave me little information, they made no mention of where I could collect the keys and they were unclear as to how I should pay my first installment of rent. They did not inform me where I could collect the keys until I asked them, it took 2 trips to the offices and a phone call to finally track down where I could collect the keys. It became apparent that the previous tenant had sent them to Anthony James as they requested a few weeks previous, Anthony James had then sent them back to another tenant in the house and finally gave me a contact number, should they not have known this in the beginning? They were aware I was coming into their offices those days and I gave them details of where I was moving into but they had no paperwork prepared when I arrived, as a result they were slow, seemed confused, had no information and did very little indeed for all the agency fees I paid to them. Once in the property the other tenants had experiences similar problems to myself and were unsatisfied with the level of service provided and the ongoing service received (such as emergency phone numbers being given and not working resulting in a tenant being locked out for a weekend)

26 Feb 2013hi, We're a couple living in a property managed by Anthony James Manser and we have been left without any utilities for gas as well as been lied to about every single facility by this agency. Highly disapprove of this agency and recommend not to go via this agency. They are supporting the lanlord and causing distress for the tenants. It is a very horrible experience to have to suffer without any food for days on end or without any facilities and they are doing this just for money. Its disgraceful that the local government does not do anything about fradulent landlords and rogue agencies in London. Shame, shame, crying shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
