I rented a fully managed 3 bed detached property on a 1 year contract, as a professional moving to the area. The house was not professionally cleaned when I moved in and the kitchen was filthy. There were frequent plumbing failures... although these were promptly mended, these were due to the overall poor maintenance of the property. The boiler was not working properly (faulty valve meant it would shut off and not relight, meaning the house would be freezing in the morning with no hot water). Despite frequent requests, the boiler was not repaired for the duration of my tenancy because it was not unsafe, just not working... indeed it was only actually repaired after I vacated the property because the letting agents couldn't re-light it in the middle of the winter. When my year's tenancy was up, Your Move tried to railroad me into paying to renegotiate a 6 month contract... I argued hard that I wanted to go onto a standard assured shorthold tenancy (i.e. no renegotiation fee) but was made to hang on until the last minute before they conceded that I could do this. By then it was too late and I'd put an offer in on a house... when I came to check out, they tried to sting me for unreasonable charges on my deposit (e.g. damage the the floor which only became evident because I'd actually cleaned the floor... and also not pruning shrubs in the garden, when my contract specifically forbade me from pruning them!) Once again I argued hard and got my full deposit back. I certainly won't be renting with Your Move again. It disgusts me that tenants are treated like second class citizens :-(
