The agency arranged a viewing and to their credit, I had train troubles and was late (it was a late evening viewing as well) which they were fine with. I loved the property and phoned first thing the next morning wanting to arrange to rent the place. I was then told that they would contact the landlord, and that there shan't be any problems. I got no call back that day, and called them once more around lunchtime that day. The next morning I phoned because I was starting to get concerned, as all the flats I had liked so far had gone very quickly. I was then told, not by the person I had been regularly dealing with, that I would not pass any referencing checks, and that a guarantor would not be enough, and she was entirely unsympathetic and unwilling to explain or talk through my options. Once I had ended the call I realised that this sounded strange, and since I had not been told why I had not passed, I called again, this time speaking to the person I had been regularly dealing with. He had sent me an email telling me that the landlord had lined up a relative to fill the flat, but on the phone still told me the referencing wouldn't work out. The whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth as the landlord had clearly only been waiting on his relative to decide, yet the flat was still advertised and Hunters clearly lied on his behalf. Will never use them again!
