When I saw the house everything was perfect and easy, we agreed on all the terms and everything was settled. I paid the fees (£300!) but I was sure I was making the right choice. But then the problems started. I had sent about 4 emails and called them twice asking about it since it was taking a long time. Finally they told me everything was fine and nothing to worry about. Later they called me again saying that my referencing for some reason didn't pass and they didn't accept a guarantor from outside UK (as a young foreigner is not like I have lots of family and house-owner friends around the UK...). Then they wanted me to pay a full 12 month tenancy up front, when I was agreeing on a starting tenancy of 6 months that apparently they decided to change without telling me. Then they told me that 6 months was fine and after it'll go to a rolling contract. When I got the contract it didn't say that, but instead I'm supposed to pay another 6 months up front at the end of the tenancy and so on. So I'm forced to stay a multiple of 6 months in the house?? And of course they told me all days 5 days before moving into the house without a chance to look for something else (and lose the £300), when everything was agreed on a month in advance...
Just don\'t say one thing to get the tenancy agreed and then they change it when it\'s too late to back out...

9 Nov 2014i put a holding deposit down in the bognor branch. All was going well referancing went in ,asked if i could move in a week later due to surgery there was no problem as was honest about having had past rent arreas, i get a call 2 days before hospital that i was declined because of this, im not sure why they didnt say in first place waste of time and money.

Not unreasonable in value, but it felt like we were being ripped off to be charged to sign, renew and leave the property with fees on top of the rent

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
