Dealing with Chestertons was the most frustrating and time-wasting thing I have ever been through. My flatmates and I put in an application for a property through Chestertons, this got all the way through to the point of receiving our Offer Letter. Then the day that I was expecting to receive an email with our Lease Agreement to sign, the Agent called me up to say the landlord sold the property. First of all, he lied to me and acted as if he had no idea the landlord was selling behind the scenes, a quick google search showed me that in fact it was up for sale on the Chestertons website. Secondly, the Agent knew that I had turned other properties for this one and should have been honest from the start about the intention to sell as now we have missed out on the other opportunities as the application process took two weeks. Thirdly, we had already paid our 50% deposit as well as reference fees which the Agent assured would be transferred back in full immediately. Upon following up (which I had to do multiple times because the Agent was simply unresponsive) I was told the transfer had been made but would take 3 days â UNREASONABLE as my transfer to them was able to go through on the same day. Then when I asked to see proof that the transfer was made, I was promised an email with that proof which should be an immediate email if the transfer was in fact already made â this was never sent to me. I am still in the process of finding out where our deposit is and when we will get it back. This is completely unprofessional on their part and they have made no attempt to appease me and my flatmates after lying to our faces, wasting two weeks of our time, taking our money and then making it difficult to get it back. I will NEVER deal with Chestertons again, nor would I EVER recommend them to anyone.

This lettings agency was responsible for anti-social behaviour within a block that I live in. The agent's tenants were aggressive and were involved in drinking alcohol and making noise in the middle of the night. The agency encouraged the landlord to direct the tenant's behaviour. The...
