*This estate agent knowingly omitted crucial information about the sale of the property advertising the flat to have a private garden. Upon viewing, the agent gestured to the entire garden and again reiterated the sale was a flat with a private garden. Between viewing and purchasing the flat, a fence was erected half way down the garden. In truth, the private garden was actually half of the entire garden (the other half owned by the flat upstairs).* refused point blank to accept any responsibility or show any empathy. Indeed he was patronising, condescending, and borderline abusive. Will (who dealt with my purchase) took no personal details from me e.g. my budget, what I wanted/didn't want, and when I came to the office understandably upset he was mocking, rude and threatening (not a nice feeling knowing they know where I live and that I live alone). I felt bullied by * who said (quote) "if it was the whole garden you wouldn't have been able to afford it anyway". Firstly this was not true, secondly it is unbelievably unprofessional, and thirdly they had no record of what my maximum budget actually was (the price of the property was actually well below my maximum budget). What was meant to be an extremely happy day was tainted by these people who have no empathy, don't know what an apology is, and do not know how to communicate eloquently or effectively. The staff need some serious training in customer service and better spoken communication. The staff could have been more understanding, kinder, and admitted that they did not provide full information nor take the time to record my preferences on file which I believe would have avoided the error. Having moved to the area I have since heard other horror stories about their lack of professionalism, knowledge and bad attitude towards sellers, buyers, renters and even other estate agents! They regularly disrupt tenants with viewings without telling them they had arranged them. They send staff to show properties without being properly briefed. Sadly, they live up to the stereotype of estate agents. My advice for anyone who has seen a property with them is to approach a different agent and ask them if they can deal with the sale. Such a shame their ego was more important to them then providing a service that they get paid to do. Considering their job is to literally be 'the middle man', they do a terrible job.
