Anyone who is a student knows to be very friggin careful before going near these people. They changed their name from the infamous MTM recently to 'coapt' because even they admitted they had such a dire reputation. They obviously think students are stupid to fall for the renaming but we all know who you are. I've lived in one of their houses, it all started off fine, then whenever anything went wrong, they took weeks to fix it. Some of the builders that turned up would just let themselves in, without any warning and lets just say they certainly weren't the kind of people you want in your home without you being there. At the end of our tenancy they conjured up over £600 in 'fees' they took from our deposit. We left the property pristine, but still they charged us all sorts of bizarre 'expenses' including 'fix kitchen door handle' for £25.... that was broken when we moved in. These people are crooks, they try and be all 'cool' and 'down with the kids' but this is nothing more than a racket.

Absolute rip off. I calculated over a year I paid over £490 in various fees and charges. There were six of us..... £3k in their pocket

Our rebrand from MTM to Coapt was more than just a change in name, we've worked really hard to change our company ethos, processes and procedures to make sure our tenants don't feel the way you do. Your feedback is key to help us continue to develop and I would be keen to gain more information so I can investigate exactly where we went wrong. All our contractors have signed a SLA to confirm they will contact tenants before attending a maintenance issue, it is very serious if this is not happening and I would like to make sure this is addressed. Please contact emma@coapt.co.uk. I'm sorry you came across fees during your contract, other than our agency fees of £200pp (which is below the national average) any other charges you may come across during your tenancy are for breach of contract, such as paying your rent late. Deposits are protected with MyDeposits which means landlords and agents cannot make unfair deductions. At the end of your tenancy if there are charges to return the property back to the same condition you received it in that you feel are unfair please make sure you speak to your finance manager first so we can investigate. All proposed charges are based on evidence from a third party inventory,m check in and check out. If we are unable to come to an agreement you can approach MyDeposits and an external adjudicator will access whether the deductions are fair and if the money should be awarded to the tenants or landlord.

I wouldn't recommend Coapt to ANY student. In the case of my daughter - they did absolutely nothing to assist the students to get a refund of their paid deposits.
