AVOID THIS COMPANY - COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! Moved into our student house today, it was extremely filthy! tenant direct claimed they had professional cleaners in, when it took us 3 hours to clean the downstairs bathroom to a liveable state. Plugs thick with hair so bad they look like they've never ... Read Full Review
BAD! High agent fees with no cleaning or maintenance done to property prior to moving in.

Awful. So poorly organised I do not understand how they are still in business. They lose forms, tell you lies and never follow up on their promises. As a highly organised person myself I could run this business better with my eyes closed. Infuriating is how I would sum up my time with... Read Full Review

They were unprofessional, tried to bully me in to paying an increased rent after I'd signed the contract and refused to repair the flat for over the last 7 months of the lease. They are hard to contact and when you do manage to contact them, they don't provide you with any of the information that... Read Full Review

I emailed Tenant Direct as my gas boiler had stopped working on Sunday at 4pm and the heating and hot water had both gone off. I knew it was unlikely anyone would respond on a Sunday and did'nt expect a response until Monday. I was called by the John Pierce on Monday at exactly 8.45 am, which... Read Full Review

Do not use this unprofessional agency, even as an introduction to a property. My daughter signed for a property that has a long standing penetrating damp problem with black blinds, black carpet flaking plaster, all due to severe damp. The property had no inventory. The house had not been cleaned at... Read Full Review
The fees are extortionate in comparison to their appalling service

So myself and 7 others rented a house in Southampton through tenants direct. When we moved in we found that the previous tenants had not cleaned anywhere so we had to clean the house ourselves until 3 days later a cleaning crew turned up. We wrote a huge list of all the problems with the house to... Read Full Review
If the agents had fixed even half of the things on the list i gave them when we first moved in, i may have been satisfied, but they just left us in a crumbling house where everything was so dodgy and horrible.

For three years, I have occupied a flat at 34 Lodge Road Southampton. During this time, I have experienced several issues that were at no point, remedied sufficiently, or at all. This was in spite of following all of the procedures for doing so, stated in the tenancy agreement. All requests and... Read Full Review

[[EDIT ORIGINAL START]] They were an awful letting agents. They asked for moneys that had already been payed to be payed multiple times until I physically yelled at the woman down the phone. The same goes for breakages: several phone calls and e-mails indicating not only the problem but that they... Read Full Review
They could have been more friendly, helpful, organised and offered sensible prices. They could have solved problems by not being patronising.

Although this agent appears helpful upfront and dealing with issues such as maintenance they have many hidden charges that are not made clear and are not in the tenancy agreement, contrary to the requirements of ARLA membership that they accredit themselves to. Additional fees approximately... Read Full Review

Being a student the letting agency was not the most approachable. Although, I am living in a non-student property, things do still get broken, where it would be the letting agents/landlords obligation to fix them. After phoning them repeatedly asking them to repair things they were utmost... Read Full Review

Having had a broken bath and broken shower for long periods of time, they came round to 'repair them' by putting gaffer tape over cracks, didn't even last a day, leaving us without cleaning facilities. When we got the property it was a total mess, and when we moved out we cleaned it to well... Read Full Review

After having viewed several properties with several different agents we decided to rent a property through Tenant Direct and moved in, in July 2011. Do not use this company. I'm a student and moved in to our first house with some friends. To improve they need to vet there landlords better, They need to improve there communication and also they need to improve there customer service. When its your job to deal with the public (or anyone) you have to have brilliant customer service skills. They dont.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
