BUYERS STAY AWAY. Dealt with Chris at Ralph James regarding a property that (allegedly) we got an offer accepted on. Never got anything in writing despite asking repeatedly, said he would do something and then not do it, kept leading us on and never got a straight answer. Eventually, we found out that the seller had accepted another offer without informing us. Will be taking this up with the ombudsman as it was clearly in breach of the code of conduct. It's a shame as it's exactly the type of agent that brings disrepute to the profession. We fully advise against anyone attempting to buy in the area - to experience such dishonest behaviour when you are handling the single largest financial transaction of your life is despicable. Avoid at all costs.

I have had excellent service from Ralph James' Reigate and Redhill branches. From the moment I expressed an interest in my property to the flowers and cakes with my new house keys, they couldn't have been more helpful.....and we achieved all this in a full lockdown!! I have had excellent service from Ralph James' Reigate and Redhill branches. From the moment I expressed an interest in my property to the flowers and cakes with my new house keys, they couldn't have been more helpful.....and we achieved all this in a full lockdown!! They obtained all answers to my questions in a prompt and timely manner and were professional, patient and good humoured. I'd recommend them.

I decided to sell last year so approached Ralph James, however they were not being competitive on price and would not price match claiming they were so good. I used another estate agent but then switched to them. After 4 weeks and not a single viewing I gave them 2 weeks written notice. They contacted me and asked I didn’t go elsewhere but I stood by my decision. Bizarrely a viewing came through the door just days later and this person made an offer which I excepted. And then I began! Nearly 4 months later my solicitor discovered that the buyer did not have a mortgage. This went on for months and I had to change estate agent then because I couldn’t trust them and needed to try and find a new buyer. Several estate agents in the area contacted me having seen my property go back on the market and asking what happened. When I explained everyone said, ‘did Ralph James not check that the buyer was able to get a mortgage!’ Clearly not!

Ralph James explained that “yes they were naive”.
Being naive lost me a house purchase, along with nearly £7k. I had to fight to not lose this. I am also pregnant so trying to set up my family home and thanks to Ralph James this has caused me immense stress.
In December they contact me and just before Christmas a valuation was conducted and apparently the buyer still wanted to purchase my property. Then came Christmas and the New Year. I visited Ralph James in the New Year and was told the same thing, the buyer is proceeding and is nearly there.
We are now in March and I have heard not a single word from Ralph James, no phone call, no email, nothing.
I’m sure you agree that this is very unprofessional and a mess they left me in.
I’m now 7 months pregnant and still not moved but lost a load of money!
DO NOT USE THEM!!
