I told them there is no hot water in the apartment but after a week they have done nothing and I am still with no hot water. When I meal them they reply with excuses saying they are tracking down the contractors to get an estimate or that they have contacted the landlord but got an out of office reply. Avoid Martin & Co at all cost, they don't care about you they just care about not upsetting the landlord.

Our viewing got moved on the day of to a later date, 9 days later. Struggled to get a straight answer when we called.
When we arrived, we were viewing a completely different flat to what pictures were advertised!!!!!!!
We asked the agent and he was fully aware of this, but didn’t apologise or explain.
Nobody bothered to tell us or update us before we travelled to view the properly.

I bought a flat in Leicester in 2004 and discovered that two neighbouring flats were being let by Martin & Co and was impressed by a number of things which my neighbours reported. So when I came to let my own flat in 2008 I knew that I was wanting to work with Martin & Co.
Lettings has been very good, keeping the flat consistently occupied during that time with good communication both proactively and reactively. The sale has been a long time in coming but again, the staff were helpful, kept me fully informed continued to push things along when they were slow. Maybe I shouldn't say this, but given the amount of work they did for me their fee seems rather low!
I'm currently renting out another property, again using Martin & Co in a different part of the country. Strongly recommend them for both lettings and sales, very pleased to have worked with them over this time, whilst delighted with the sale, slightly sad that the 13 year relationship has now come to an end! Thank you, Martin & Co, much appreciate all your help.

For the lack of service and ill-advised valuation, the service is overpriced.

Failing to communicate with both selling parties (who were separated) via email. Despite being reminded on numerous occasions.
Contacting (only one of us) via telephone to tell us we have failed to complete documents (these documents had not actually been posted yet by the solicitors).
Despite paying out £1200 for the services being spoken to unprofessionally.
Overall disappointed in their service, with a lack of customer care, when it came to the sellers, poor communication and poor valuation advice I would NOT recommend this estate agent.

I was recently looking for a flat to buy. I looked at two and was meant to look at at third flat. The fact that this estate agent made me decide to not bother buying should be self explanatory. The first girl I dealt with named Emily was nice and friendly to be fair and did try to help me to start with. But this is the only positive about my review. We were supposed to be viewing a flat I really liked (and the only one actually nice in Leicester ). 3 times I got messed around and when I rebooked to see the flat the fourth time I didn't even put it in my diary as I figured it would be cancelled anyway. But my problems were with the rudeness of the second estate agent I dealt with plus the fact that she was unhelpful and did not care about me as a potential buyer. Probably because at that point they had none of my money! She just talked to me like I was stupid which in turn made me angry and snappy back to her. I am now looking to rent a flat as that experience has put me off buying. Absolute shame. Don't use. Go to purple bricks they are much better and the estate agents are really friendly .

After being told my full circumstances they are happy to take your money for referencing and then claim the landlord has turned down a payment of six months rent in advance and a guarantor as I am not working due to ill health. The reason given is not my health but the landlord insurance to protect non payment, I offered full payment in advance.
Sadly they are a franchise company whose management are very poor and staff training is non existent, abusive, liars and incompetent.

My friend and I have also had the same experience with Martin & Co and in particular the same member of staff, Prakash Parmar. On the viewing, I was informed that the house was through the post bills for the gas and electric, there was a TV aerial in the master bedroom but one will be put in the second bedroom, certain furniture would be removed from the secondary bedroom (as I had my own furniture from a previous house) and a paint touch up on the walls throughout the house. On our moving day we discovered that the house was actually on a key meter for the gas and electric, BOTH bedrooms didn't have TV aerials, all the furniture was still in the secondary bedroom and the walls were patchy and bodged. When questioned about these he responded with complete denial of all knowledge of these promises and i was rudely spoken to and made to feel lost and very unsupported and even slightly threatened. I have had to find my own storage for the furniture, we had to wait three weeks for the TV aerials to be put in, including 2 days off work to meet the work men for the job, and we are now having to live with the pay by meter as this is something the landlord doesn't want to change. We strongly recommend to everyone that they avoid this agency at all costs!!

What agent could do to change your mind?
The agent could have simply laid out every cost and delay to us in written form at the very start of the process and that way we woudl have been prepared for all this.

I am very unhappy with the service I've received from Martin and Co and from their agent Prakash in particular. When viewing the property we were told that the rent was 675 but it turned out to actually be 775. This was still quite low so we decided to accept. We were then told that the house was having repairs done but that these would be finished by the 13th of September. A day later this was changed to the 20th of September, a full 16 days after the date we had indicated we would like to move in. We still went ahead and had very poor email contact with the agent over a period of two weeks at the end of which, one we had provided all relevant documentation and on the date we had indicated that we wanted to move in, we were told that we would have to wait up to a week for a references check. When I complained about this the agent was very deffensive and argumentative and claimed that we had received this information in an email. This was completely untrue. When I confornted him with this he then changed his story and said that he had told us at the viewing, also untrue. He then changed his story again and said he had told us at the signing of the preliminary contract. This was also a complete lie. He came back a few hours later saying the referencing was done but that it would now take up to five days to do the inventory, another surprise delay he hadn't ever mantioned to any of us involved, as well as the fact that this would cost £35. These delays leave us officially homeless for almost a week as we had made it very clear that we wanted to move in on the 4th or 5th of September. Communication has been terrible with the agent not answering emails fully and taking longer than expected to reply to urgent emails, and now we're left worrying what the next delay or charge will be. I will never be using Martin and Co again and would advise everyone to steer well clear.

Avoid this agent at all cost! They were agents for our rental property and their service is appalling. They missed 2 gas certificates, which have to legally be done every year. They were unable to work out simple calculations when our tenant fell behind on his rent and in the end I sent them the details of what he owed. When the tenant moved out they didn't take meter readings, didn't check the inventory, didn't check the keys returned and recommend he get his full deposit back even though he had pre-payment meters fitted which would cost us at least £100 to remove! Then they also applied to have our energy supplier changed, without our permission, 2 weeks before the tenant moved out and we were selling the property. None of these errors seemed to concern anyone working there, not even a Director. Very poor.
