We are new LandLords, and needed much advice. From our initial phone call to a lovely pleasant young lady Jessica, who very quickly did the legwork, very efficiently and enthusiastically . She then passed it all over to Toby in Nantwich. Within one week we had a tenant into our property. They have made the process as hassle free as possible, and we can't thank them enough. Would definitely recommend them.

Comments on Agent Fees
The fees are pricey but they are everywhere else too. They made sure that we would be successful before asking us to make a payment after we were stung at another letting agency

Worst experience I have ever had dealing with this company. The staff have no customer service skills and regularly lie or just ignore you. When you do speak to them they are just rude with no empathy. Unwilling to take any responsibility for anything.

A huge thank you to Dan for all of his help. We had a very difficult situation where are tenants were sub letting and not responding to any correspondence that was sent. Thanks to Dan the tenants have now vacated the property. Dan gathered all the evidence needed, and professionally put together a pdf report. Not only did he arrange everything from inspections, communication and serving a section 21 he also arranged repairs for our property which were finished in 48 hours!! It was back on the market and re let within one week.

What agent could do to change your mind?
- Stop lying
- Take phone calls
- Return missed calls and messages
- Don\'t patronise people
- Don\'t be two faced and try be best mates when something is in your favour
- Go out of your way to help tenants and provide good customer service

THE WORST customer service I have ever received!
During our time renting with Martin and Co we dealt with Saul, who from the word go was utterly terrible at his job and treating customers.
To start, he rushed us into paying a deposit on the property we viewed and then convinced my girlfriend (who did the initial signing for the property) that we had to take out their contents insurance.
It was not until I called Saul and asked him about this and told him I already had contents insurance with my provider and he rudely said that he had explained that to my girlfriend, which he did not.
I then emailed Saul to ask for the following information: Please could you email me the following details so I can get my bills etc organised before the move?
- Current gas supplier to the property - Current electricity supplier to the property - Current water supplier to the property
Saul never even acknowledged my email and when I called him to ask about it denied receiving it.
He has always spoke to us with a negative tone unless it was regarding us paying him or helping him out with something, he was the nicest person in the world when it was in his favour!
The main problems we had though was when we were moving out of the property. We got confirmation from our landlord and from Martin and Co that we could leave contract early if we paid the £350.00 marketing fee, which we did.
We did however ask that we have a 2 week period before the house goes on the market so that we could prepare for viewings etc. This agreement was not honoured by Saul and he had booked in viewings on the property for the day after. I called Saul and explained to him that we had all agreed that viewings would not be for another 2 weeks and he said he would cancel them for the next 2 days and wait until the 2 week period was over.
The next day, whilst I was at home on my lunch break a women came round to view the property. She said that Saul had booked her in and told her that he would show her around. He did not call her to tell her the viewing had been cancelled.
When I called him that day to tell him someone had arrived he claimed to have called her and left a voice mail. Which was a blatant lie as her phone did not ring nor a voice mail come through. Saul did not even follow up and check she received the message if he was telling the truth.
I showed the women around that day to be courteous as she was very keen on the property. She was very impressed and went to Martin and Co straight afterwards and paid her deposit.
Upon paying her deposit she did not hear from Martin and Co and tried contacting them numerous times.
I then spoke to her and she said she had enough of waiting around and pulled out of the move.
I then tried to contact Saul and every time I rang I was told he was 'in a meeting' or 'out of the office' or 'on the phone' and I left a message every time for him to call me back, which he NEVER did. I finally managed to get his mobile number and caught him off guard when he was driving and explained the situation with the potential new tenant.
Saul then lied again saying he had chased her for weeks and she had not answered the phone to him etc. He then tried to say that if he did not find a tenant to move into the property by the time we moved out then we would be liable for paying the rent.
I was astonished at his cheek and that fact he could not do his job properly in the first place yet tried to turn it around on me.
I then told him about the agreement between me, him and the landlord regarding the early exit from contract and agreed date. He then again lied to me saying he had forgot about this discussion as he was driving at the time when he spoke to me. Which was not true, I did NOT speak to him in the first place, he spoke to the landlord and he was not driving, he was in his office.
I hope Saul reads this and uses it to correct his attitude and treat people with more respect and courtesy.
I will NEVER use Martin and Co again and I will not recommend it to anyone else. I will discourage people from dealing with Saul.

What agent could do to change your mind?
More considerate and communicative where appropriate. I.E where the tenants are being as helpful as possible, return the favour.
Apologise when they have made a mistake.

We gave Martin and co 8 weeks notice of our intention not to renew. Our landlady then informed them of the instruction to re-advertise. To help attract tenants and because we wanted it to look nice, as you do. They gave us 48 hours notice and said they would let themselves in. If there was 4 weeks left until renew date I'd understand, but there were 8. When I said they had been poor in communication and inconsiderate they replied without a single apology and just said it was the land lady's fault. They also lied about the 48 hours notice and said they had given us plenty of time. I replied and received an apology from Mark Bowler, a director at the company / branch. I accepted and said all I wanted was some consideration and respect that we were trying to be accommodating and communicative and that's what we would like in return.
But then, the final straw was the advert they posted on the net, completely wrong, so wrong it was comical, saying it was detached when it was a mid terrace,unfurnished when it wasn't and no parking when there is a drive for 3 cars. But from our point of view the worst thing was they put the available date as 4 days earlier than it was, when we would still be living there! I very politely let them know this via email, and 3 days later I have received no reply so I check the website and they have changed it. No apology, nothing.
On top of that, the staff don't seem to know what they are doing in the branch, they take days to reply to emails, their terms are incredibly harsh and borderline theft (they take 10% of your monthly rent if you accidentally pay them an extra payment after your contract expires just to refund it, how horrible is that!?).
But worst of all, they simply do not care. They take your money, as much as they possibly can and offer you nothing in return.
I will never use Martin and Co again.
