We recently took on the renting of a home in Bristol and found Maggs and Allen to be, by far, the best estate agents to use. The service was excellent: quick, efficient, personable - and, most importantly, proactive. Tom Kitchen at the Henleaze branch updated us regularly, without prompting, and sorted out any question or obstacle within the same day of asking. Through him, we managed to view, offer and move in with all necessary checks completed in little over a fortnight. Fantastic job - and many thanks and much gratitude to him and Maggs and Allen. When looking for a house Maggs and Allen provided us with many options and contacted us as soon as a suitable house came to them, allowing us to see it and get in before it went to market. When making offers and negotiating, they didn't make it stressful or turn it into a bidding war with other perspective buyers. The communication was fantastic and they were very upfront and honest with us about our offers and gave good advice. We didn't feel pushed into anything or put under pressure, obviously they are impartial but it really felt like they were working for us and on our side! After selling three properties and buying through other agents I would say this has been the most professional experience I've encountered and most importantly stress free.

Overall we were pleased with the service received from beginning to end.
A few areas which could be improved:
Photos - I supplied some of my own photos as I didn't think the ones taken were of suitable quality to really show off the property. A bit more attention to details would be worthwhile (and learn to use some free online software).
Communication - Our property was not complicated - but we did have a hidden cupboard which was not communicated to all of the team prior to them doing viewings.
Paper Press - Our house was featured in a paper - the communication process with the paper should be improved as the (papers) editorial description was of poor quality. Note I am not blaming the agent for the wording - but if communication between the agent and the editor was better this would have been resolved.
Viewing Feedback - after a viewing as a seller your very interested in hearing feedback, if you cant get to the 1st call sometimes it did take a long time to get feedback which is frustrating.
Completion Date Negotiation - Clearly Chinese whispers between agents and solicitors... There was a lot of miscommunication which the agent played their part - but in no way solely responsible. This is difficult for the agent to resolve as its a too many cooks scenario. Improved attention to detail would help here.

We were selling our UK property while living abroad so having full confidence and trust in Lewis, our estate agent, to manage the process from start to end was key for us. Due to many changes that have been introduced to property buying and mortgage lending in UK, the whole process was a lot more stressful than expected but Lewis kept on top of things on our behalf and went the extra mile to ensure that our concerns were addressed as quickly as possible and that the whole process was always moving along in the right direction. He kept us up to date at all times, always followed up on endless queries and concerns we raised with him and he ensured that everybody involved in the sale process was continuing to move things along so that the process would not slow down any more than necessary. Knowing that we could rely on Lewis at all times has made a big difference to us and we would be happy to entrust him with finding us an ideal home should we decide to return back to UK.
