1. If you are a first time buyer do not believe Fox and Sons when they state you should use their in house mortgage broker ‘because all banks prefer you to’. This is a lie - the bank do not prefer you to. I spoke to banks afterwards and they said this is not true, and they commonly hear from customers that Fox and Sons have lied to people in this way.
Fox and Sons will charge you £99 for using this service as an admin fee, and will then charge you £499 at the end of the process. You can avoid this by going direct to the bank.
The mortgage appointment is made up of Fox and Sons broker trying to sell you unnecessary add ons like income protection. Do not be scared into purchasing these agreements.
They are relying on first time buyers being unaware and abusing this to their advantage and scaring people into buying it.
The manager from the Polegate, East Sussex branch - Calum is very rude and unprofessional - swore under his breath several times during conversation, hung up the phone on me, lied outright to me when he asked me to come to the office even though he knew he wasn’t going to be there. He told me he didn’t care about anything other than getting his money for completion. I will never use them again and I will tell as many people I can to avoid them at all cost.

My mother recently sold her bungalow with Fox and Sons and although they managed to sell the property the service afterwards was abysmal. Firstly we were informed that the buyers were cash buyers which turned out to be a lie which was very disappointing as we were informed that Fox and Sons made thorough checks on all offers. The stress this caused was immense as we were selling two properties at the time. The lies then continued as we were continually misinformed as to the date contracts were to be exchanged. On one occasion I was told the exchange would take place the following Wednesday and when it did not I was told that no such date had been agreed. So blatant was the lie that I began to believe I was dreaming! Overall very disappointed with the service.

Do not use Fox and sons they are useless !! They only have one person who apparently can deal with offers and he is never in. Absolute jokers I don't know how they can still...
