And because there were far fewer photos in the check in report, it was difficult to provide photo evidence of the state of the property when we moved in. For example, I was charged for a hole in the back of my bedroom door that was there on my arrival, however, the person doing the check in report neglected to take a photo of this. So I was charged anyway.

And because there were far fewer photos in the check in report, it was difficult to provide photo evidence of the state of the property when we moved in. For example, I was charged for a hole in the back of my bedroom door that was there on my arrival, however, the person doing the check in report neglected to take a photo of this. So I was charged anyway.
I am also extremely concerned about the level of independence of the inventory provider. Dexters claims to use an indipendent inventory service, called London Independent Inventory Services. However, LIIS is not registered with the Association of Independent Inventory Clerks (AAIC) and the company address is registered at the same location as the company address for Dexters. LIIS also shares a Director with Dextors: Jeffrey Doble. I find this ethically dubious and to be a conflict of interests. The strapline on the LIIS website also concerns me: 'Keeping London's landlords happy'.
Overall, I would avoid using Dexters at all costs. I feel as though they may have purposefully been less rigorous with the check in report so as to keep more of my deposit. I ended up having to go through the Deposit Dispute Service, and luckily got more of my deposit back than Dexters were originally willing to allow. For example, they were originally going to charge me for some pictures that were removed from the property by one of their own staff members!

It is difficult for me to understand how the agent, or owner of property, have continued in legal operation.

Dexters are an average-to-poor estate agent but where they really fall down is their terrible property maintenance service.
I have been waiting for 5 months for basic repairs to be done after a ceiling leak. Leaving us with unusable electrics. I've asked several times to get the property at least made safe but they have done nothing. I'm in the process of reporting them to the local council for this illegal state of disrepair.

A happy customer tells a friend; an unhappy customer tells the world
One person I had to deal with even started to tell me one thing and my landlord another! Which soon got sorted as my landlord and I speak often!!

I would never use Dexters again. I rented a flat for 2 years Shortly after moving in, I reported faulty wiriing, among other more minor problems. The written response from Dexters to my complaint informed me that it waa not their fault as they had notified the landlord of the issue. To be fair communication improved as the tenancy progressed, but the overall let was still not to a sufficiently competent standard. The problems emenated from an uncaring landlord, but Dexters took an indifferent approach to its statutory obligations. And to its reputation. My exeriencec of letting agents has been mixed, but this was by far the worst.

These people are borderline criminals. The Dexters/Thamesview company has absolutely no respect for UK law and will not hesitate to scam people.
They charged us a large sum of money because items were missing from an inventory list that was made years ago and hadn't been signed by any of the current tenants. We'd never seen these items in the flat.
Basically the inventory was 5 years old and signed by previous tenants. They did not do a check-out inventory when those people left. All of us moved in years later, yet they did charge us for items on this list. None of us had ever met any of the people that signed the old inventory. According to them this was still a completely legal document, a flat out lie. No inventory was made when we moved in, yet they did charge us for an inventory when we moved out.
They also gained access to the property on numerous occasions without informing the tenants. No e-mail, or phone call telling us they would be visiting. They just let themselves in using the keys. My flatmate woke up one day with a complete stranger in her bedroom, a Dexters/Thamesview employee!
They're also complete amateurs. It took months to get our boiler replaced (during winter). When you communicate with one employee, and contact them again the next day and speak to someone else, they have absolutely no idea what has been discussed before. They do not seem to take notes.
Our flat was disgusting when we moved in, no cleaning had been done. When we moved out we spent an entire day cleaning, so the place was in a much better state then how we found it. But, of course they did charge us for a 'professional cleaning'. I highly doubt this cleaning ever took place, and they most likely just charged us for it and kept the money. This seems to be the 'modus operandi' of this appalling company.
My advice is to stay as far away as possible from this company, as you will be scammed!

A lady came to meet me after 10 minutes and before she opened the door said, 'you do know this is only a short 2 month let don't you' to which i replied no. It does not say on their website or rightmove that it is a short let, and i told her this. 24 hours later it still does not say on their website that it is a short let.

Further to this it just so happens that she has 3 bunches of keys as funnily enough she can show me other properties which may be suitable just round the corner. funny that isn't it. I feel this is a ploy to get clients into the area to then show other properties to. I politely declined. I must add though that she was a polite lady and reacted quick to come and see me even though her colleague naffed the booking up.
Don't use these guys, i recommend trying somewhere else, yet another con company using dirty tactics to make money.

The first problem came when we moved into the property and were told a professional clean had taken place. This was not the case - we took pictures and sent the, back. He assured us a clean had taken place but he would send the company in to redo the task - nothing was changed, yet he continued to claim that a clean had taken place. Annoying but not the worst.
Our next contact with Bart came as we went to terminate our contract a year later - what quickly emerged was that Bart had assured us over email and phone calls that we could leave our contract after one year, whilst drawing up a contract that locked us in for three years. When the agent discovered this, Bart contacted us privately and assured us he was not in agreement with his colleagues. He told us he would find new tenants and would terminate the contract with us - to our surprise we were then greeted with a response from another Dexters employee when trying to find out times for viewings. We were told Bart had left the company for another agent, and his colleagues were not aware of his correspondence. Beware.
