Beware : As sellers we had high hopes from the Trowbridge Team especially as they had sold our previous house but there has been a change of staff . We had a very poor experience and were badly let down by them on the sale of our property.
Our sale fell through right on exchange. We’d been wary of the prospective buyers from day one but had been given reassurances by Davies and Davies and we put our trust in the agent. How wrong we were to do this. They failed to keep on top of the transaction and in the end we ended up hundreds of pounds out of pocket in legal fees.
When they began remarketing our property they started arguing with us and viewers alike over their commission even before any offers had been made as we had a second agent. Viewers then started making us aware about how unhelpful and indeed rude they had been which sealed their fate. They had me cover a final viewing on a Sunday where the viewer was a no show. No pre-checking, no exchange of contact numbers. No follow up.
Luckily, we ended up selling through the other agent.
As a prospective buyer they also promised to keep me updated on properties coming to the market but again they haven’t done this.
So my advice is avoid them. I certainly will be.

We have rented out a property through Davies and Davies in Trowbridge since 2015 and have always been very happy with the service we have received.
The team are all very pleasant and helpful. They answer emails promptly and always explain everything clearly.
They keep us up to date with the regular items required and organise these, and any repairs needed, efficiently.
This enables us to be worry free as landlords and also ensures that our tenants are comfortable in their home.
I don't wish to name anyone as being better than anyone else, they are all great and I don't want miss anyone out.

I have been letting my properties through Davies and Davies for many years and they come highly recommended.
We have encountered numerous maintenance issues along the way, but the potential stress of these situations have been effectively mitigated by the excellent work of the maintenance department and most notably Philomena. Philomena has usually come up with effective solutions to resolve issues and always works productively and effectively to achieve the best possible outcomes.
When a tenant gives notice, Catheryn acts swiftly to ensure a new tenant is found so the letting potential is streamlined and the property is not left empty.
I have also found her to be very knowledgeable and always willing to offer sound and informed advice.
The manager Carole is also very approachable and from my perspective acts in the best interests of the landlord and tenant at all times.
Collectively the letting team offer the most amazing service and I have no hesitation in recommending them for total peace of mind and at very reasonable rates indeed.

I have rented several properties through Davies and Davies over the years and have always had a pleasnt experience with the company. They go above and beyond and I would highly reccomend them.
Catheryn in particular has a very good knowledge of the market and has certainly made the whole renting process as pleasurable as it can be with a young family in toe.
Too many people are quick to judge property agents. Like many tenants I have had maintenance issues with my propeties but Davies and Davies have always acted promptly and professionally and I have nothing but good things to say about the team and their work.

C**p is an understatement.. they 'seem' friendly when showing your around the properties then when you realise the place you move into is riddled with problems and lack of care they take months to do anything about it if at all.. they are completely rude to you and seem very defensive of the fact that they are right and were wrong no matter what you say. Customer service is obviously something they dont understand here... im not one to complain but the pure upset and stressed caused throughout the tenancy and after is appauling and needs to be made known! After speaking with jennie on the phone and the pure lies that came out her mouth about the alledged bad state i left the property in is insulting as i spent hours cleaning it was in 100× better way than how it was when i moved in.. the so called professionally cleaned place was filled with mould dirt and grease... which resulted in me having to scrub the place down before i could even prepare food or put food in the kitchen cupoards. But anyway after the bullshit jennie had to rudely say i went to the assistant manager catheryn to which i found wasnt any better. I asked for my lanlords contact details as i was loosing frustration dealing with such a c**p bunch of 'estate agents' i just wanted this nightmare to be over. To which she said i has to send her an email to request my lanlords details so i did straight away to no response so called her again and her response in the most sarcasticly way was 'i have 21 days to reply to your email im busy' whilst reading back the email i sent to her. The list goes on but i cant stress enough to warn people to stay away. Im not one to complain but the way ive been treated is not right and they shouldnt get away with it!

We have a dog and there was a small child next.door so a secure garden was required. On moving in day the fence was still down and they said that it was the neighbours responsibilty and he was going to fix it. 2 weeks prior to leaving the property , after a 6 month tenency, my husband got a call from an unknown person saying the landlord had asked him to fix the fence as it was the landlords responsibility.

There was a damp problem in the kitchen , rear reception room and.bathroom. We had a constant stream of workmen coming in and out over a 3 month period.
We requested an early release clause from the property, as I was changing jobs and moving to another area, and we were informed that the landlord had agreed to allow this. We allowed viewings 4 months into the tenency and were told that if another tenant could be found we could leave. After in excess of 20 viewings I looked on rightmove and saw that the house was advertised as been vacant on our original leaving date. After I discovered this I told them we would not be accepting anymore people into the house. I was then accused of breaking the tenancy agrement. Both my husband and I said at this point they would make it difficult and find fault when we left so that we didn't get our deposit back.....which they did but they were unsuccessful.
One major issue was they knew we were going in holiday abroad and when we returned a letter was delivered informing that they had been into the property for the house check. They did not tell us so they illegally entered the property without our knowledge.
My hustand and I were landlords ourselves at this time.with our house in Lincolnshire and if our agent had behaved like Davies & Davies did with us we would have sacked them instantly.
My advice would be don't use this company no matter what.

If you have an issue or request do not expect a reply or call back. On the off chance you do get one, don't expect anything to be done for months.
When moving in, various appliances were malfunctioning or not working at all, including the main storage heater which took weeks to have fixed.
Davies & Davies also use awful contractors who damaged property and entered without permission or even giving notice.
When moving out I was charged �80 for them to trim a hedge and was told this is not something I was allowed to do myself.
I did write to complain but never heard anything back.

All of the reviews below are correct. They don't use independant inventory clerks and have no respect for the fact that tenants pay their fee and that the property is your home. I am not one to usually write reviews, but they have lit a fire in me with the rubbish we have endured. As such, I would urge anyone reading this to rent from somewhere else, anywhere else, as you are bound to have a more positive experience.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Been helpful and tried to help me with receiving my deposit rather than passing on the blame and telling me it\'s down to me to get the deposit back... WHAT WERE THE FEES FOR THEN!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor customer service said about Davies and Davies (Trowbridge)

After moving out of a property recently I had Very poor service from Davies and Davies. As soon as you move out they couldn't care less about you. I moved out on the 10th June and it is now nearly July and I still haven't reived my deposit back. Calling them on several occasions to chase it up. They just past me off and kept saying it takes 7-10 days. I love at the start if your tenancy how they expect you to pay the deposit and ludicrously expensive fees of nearly £300 (for which they seem to do NOTHING to deserve this payment) immediately and yet take so long to repay the deposit back. Very unhelpful staff. Won't be using them again.
